I am certainly not calling Clottey an illegitimate threat, I feel he is being handicapped against a supposed ATG. If Manny is the superman everyone says he is, then he doesn't need Top Rank to handicap his opponents.

No. It's a farce when it's setup for one guy to win. Clottey is a handpicked fall guy. You notice he's mostly known for losing to two other Top Rank fighters? Both of these guys are Top Rank fighters, yet it seems as though Clottey is a clear afterthought in this fight. Arum keeps talking as if the fight is in the bag for Manny, and the odds are soaring greatly in favor of Pac. Let's also not forget Clottey's training camp situation.

He's going into the biggest fight of his life with a 64 year old part time locksmith(who has worked mostly as a cutman) as his replacement trainer. This guy basically does everything as his other two cornerman just basically play music and cook food. He also has inadequate sparring partners and doesn't even have a working shower in his gym(he has to walk across the street to take a shower). Everything in this fight has been worked towards Manny's favor. Even in their faceoff with Kellerman, Kellerman remarked right to Clottey's face about how he was brought in to lose. How is this not a farce? The rest of your post is pretty silly and nonsensical.

I am starting to really feel happy for clottey.
He could have went his entire career without a mega fight, but now he is in the united states, in the biggest arena we have, fighting the best fighter in the world, and he has the opportunity to become a much bigger fighter than he was.
Instead of the guy who lost to cotto, he is the guy who is facing pacquiao.

What was ron lyle without ali?
Some guys are propelled into the boxing conscience by being the opponent of the top dude.
Clottey is getting a shot most guys would kill for. This is good news.

You are Floyd fan aren't you?

A fight between 2 top welters, a farce? Why cause Floyd told you? Cause it won't make as many PPV numbers are your idol's?

Clottey's trainer not being able to be here is a problem, and maybe the fight should have been post-poned. But a farce? You gotta be a Floyd fan.

Just a year or so ago, that statement would have been laughed at on ESB. Shows how great Manny has become.

if not clottey, who could have pac faced? you coult not possibly be blaming top rank for clottey not having his trainer with him.

**** happens. he didnt get a US visa so he can't go. i dont know what the reason is but maybe the US consul didnt want him in the states. maybe he was a pac fan but then again maybe not.

clottey is on a clear disadvatage but calling this fight a farce is way too much dude.

a farce is more like pac versus david diaz. a slow, plodding, non even heavy handed but tough fighter who had a trinket wbc title. sure, call it a farce.

but clottey is not a sure win for pacquiao. i will be nervous watching this fight next week because i know if clottey lands a pretty strong punch, pac's jaw might not hold.

yes, he was brought in to lose. pac is top ranks money making machine. still, do you think he cares at all if he was brought to lose? pac was brought to lose against ledwaba as a late replacement and he was also brought to lose against MAB when they first met. the odds were by far on ledwaba's and MAB's side. but pac didnt mind. he just fought and won.

being brought to lose does not mean you have to lose. i think you are grossly underestimating clottey.

again, he is no mayweather or mosley but any 147 guy who is that big, has a strong chin, and can punch hard is and will always be a threat, even if he was brought to lose.

If anyone really thinks this is a farce they are severely underestimating Clottey. Joshua Clottey is going to be the biggest guy Pac has ever boxed, and most likely the strongest.

Clottey is a 12 round fighter, and a good game planner. It will be near impossible for him to get a decision win because we all know about Texas's reputation (and they earned it).

Clottey has a shot if he can withstand Pacs body work, he had trouble with Marg's volume but let's be honest it isn't fair to judge fighters on their performances against marg anymore.

He stood up to Cotto's attack and dealt with south paw Zab Judah handily.

Maybe it's just wishful thinking but I thnk that this is going to be a serious fight. Especially if Clottey can do his best Arthur Abraham and drown Pac in the deep water.

Still deep down everyone has got to be rooting for Pac because we all want to see the Pac MAy showdown

i actually have a sneaking feeling clottey will cause a huge upset he will come in over 160 pounds use his size loves to fight and has a great chin if he can take pacs shots thats when pac may start having problems i think clottey is bein way under estimated remember this is probably clotteys last chance and he wont take it lightly cud be barrera vs pac 1 all over again

Tim Bradley would've been the perfect guy. That's a fight many fans wanted to see, that's a fight that HBO was interested in. Instead, they chose a fight that no one had any interest in seeing against a guy coming off a loss to a guy Pac had just destroyed. HBO was actually non comittal to this fight at first because they wanted to see if Mayweather was going to fight on that date even though he had no opponent lined up. HBO had no interest in this fight. They are only showing it to appease Manny. I don't blame Top Rank for Clottey not getting a Visa. However, they didn't seem to care at all. Clottey has been pretty much on his own.

Really? Clottey found out about this fight on the internet and he thought it was a joke. Did you know Clottey was supposed to fight 26 year old, untested prospect Mike Jones?

Clottey is a plodder and has 1 stoppage in like 5 years.

Clottey doesn't have one punch KO power, and his offense is pretty predictable.

Against Ledwada Pac was a mando. Both times, those were interpromotional fights. These guys are both with Top Rank. Top Rank is very familiar with Clottey and knows his chances of winning are remote.

Name me one big win by Clottey? He's a fallguy, and he was handpicked.

He can't punch all that hard, and he's not all that big. He's barely 5' 8" and will be no more than 155 lbs. on fight night. Believe whatever you want. All things considered, I believe Clottey has zero shot at winning which is why he was handpicked by Arum.

pac wasn't mandatory against ledwaba. he was a late replacement. he was number 7 because the top 6 contenders passed off the chance to fight ledwaba in such a shirt notice.

i didnt say he was big in height. have you seen how that guy looks? he is huge.

bradley would have been a good opponent, yes, but you have to factor in that pac is staying in welter because the money fights are there. if pac defeated bradley, then say mayweather went up against and defeated clottey, he'll just be saying pac defeated a smaller guy while he fought a legitimate welter in clottey. so pac will lose his bargaining power.

1 stoppage in 5 years? can't be true. i know he knocked out the guy he fought before he beat judah, i know that was a TD but it was clearly a tko win for clottey.

i still think it's too much to call this fight a farce. this isnt mayweather-marquez. pac's fighting a legit welterweight. he may have lost two of his biggest matches but he's still a tough dude.

but you know what. i hope you're right. i hope pac knocks the bejesus out
    of clottey.
