Boxing Stories That Would Make Good Films

Just done a google search and there were plans to do a new set of episodes in 2008 but unfortunately they didn't.

 

Crying Shame that is.

 

I think you've misinterpreted his post slightly; I don't think he's being morose in any way, he's just naming an event that could make for a dark film that is, tragically, based on a grim true story. That night's tragic events brought about a situation that shouldn't have happened. The aftermath had a huge effect on the way boxing was percieved by it's own fans and the outside world and the story of what happened to Kim's family made the events even more tragic. Mancini's life was changed forever as well and there are many sides to the aftermath of the fight.

It was an event that completely changed boxing and was brought about by one young man's desperate attempts to improve his own life as well as his family's. Many would argue that the story of Kim's life and it's tragic end deserves to gain mainstream exposure.

I do, however, appreciate that this is a topic that some could find of suspect moral fibre.

Very good documentary, although quite short.

It was a comment in general, not aimed at you mate.

You get threads on the GF spouting off about Chavez-Taylor or Arguello-Pyor and it turns out all they've seen before becoming experts on the fight is the episode of Legendary Nights.

i belive like you it deserves to be told i would love to see how kims son is doing as he is about to turn 18 im sure as he grows older and matures he will undrstand the sacrifice his father made to bring his mother and ultimatly him a better life

aaron pryor would be a good hollywood type film and paul sykes would be a good brit flick............yes i know he was a drunken scumbag but he lived an eventful if somewhat tragic life especially considering his two kids are now serving time for separate murders.

Or how about some random Mexican or something like the guys who put their lives on the line to provide a slightly better living standard for their family. Like Jesus Nazereth (who died against Omar Chavez)

Pryor vs Arguello is the best one, honestly it is class.

A life story on Arguello would be amazing, he has been through a lot.

Seeing his father try to commit suicide in front of him as a kid
Boxing his idol Olivares (after losing to Marcel)
His brother dieing in the Santandista cause
Being forced out of Nicuaragua
Fighting for Nicuruagua against the Sandantista
Losing to Pryor (his life hit a bad time)
Re finding his focus
Becoming a politician
His death.

Also how about the Margarito vs Cotto fight, I think it would make a brilliant film. Showing how each guy led up to the fight then the ending is the look of fear and desperation in Cotto's eyes as he takes a knee
