Some say Mosley has no chance. Hoya was 4 years younger at that time than Mosley is now. He was also coming off a 12 month layoff in that fight compared to 16 months for Mosley. He also revived his career by destroying a punching bag who happened to hold a title just like Mosley. Although it should be noted that the punching bag Hoya destroyed in 6 rounds almost beat Shane more than 2 years later when he was completely washed up. Just saying, I don't know how you can be completely dismissive of Hoya but hype Shane up so much.

    No.

Floyd had to wait till Mosley turned 39.

mayweather is really in for a fight, you cant go from the lightweight champ, blown up to welterweight, to fighting a top welterweight such as mosley even if mayweather thinks he is getting the edge with mosley been 40,

Shane Mosley is still a dangerous and formidable opponent despite the fact that he is past his prime, so yes, Mayweather gets props if he wins. Hell, he gets props just for taking the fight.

Will he deserve as much credit as he would had he beat a prime Mosley? No. But he will get credit, and will move up on my ATG list.

You see Big Reg....that's because I can analyze and think. While you seem not capable. Let me explain:

Though Hoya was younger he hadn't been fighting at the elite level. Do I need to put up Shane's opponents form Margo back to Cotto? Again Shane has been fighting where DLH was a part time fighter who also and this is important:

DOES NOT STAY IN SHAPE IN BETWEEN FIGHTS! SHANE LIVES A TOTALLY DIFFERENT LIFESTYLE!

You are really comparing Apples and Oranges. Shane from 2004-2009 has been fighting at the elite level and winning. He stays in the gym and in shape in between fights.

DLH's layoff is REALLY longer than you are letting on. How many fights did DLH have between 9-18-2004-2007 NOT INCULDING HIS FIGHT WITH PBF?

THAT'S RIGHT BIG REG......just 2. That is a long time to be out of the gym and out of shape.

Shane has fought 2x in 2004 and in 2005 and in 2006 and in 2007 and in 2008 he fought 1x

and due to trying to score a big fight he will have fought once in 2009. But Shane's overall activity is evident. And The fact that Shane is at his fighting weight NOW Should also be more proof! Unlike DLH who ALWAYS has to shed weight even for his fight against PBF should make it clear there is a difference between Shane and DLH.

This statement shows just what an idiot you are!

Margarito unlike Ricardo had been an ACTIVE and ELITE fighter at the weight class Shane fought him.

Margo's resume at WW: Cotto, Clottey, Williams, Cintron, Mosley

Ricardo doesn't have that resume at WW or Jr Middle so why would you compare the two victories. They don't even have similar styles. .

You can hate on Margo all you want his resume at WW dwarfs PBF's.....period!

Really he almost beat Shane? That assessment says everything. It was fools like you that I took to the cleaners over the Margo-Mosley fight. Shane was NEVER in any trouble in the Mayorga fight. Ricardo landed ONLY a handful of clean punches that had ZERO EFFECT on Shane. Shane made the fight physically harder than it had to be, because he chose to sit in front Mayorga and try to time him with power shots. When he could have "SPEARED" him with a jab when Ricardo attempted to jump in.

But almost lost to Ricardo.......****ING PLEASE! Ricardo didn't win more than 3 rounds.....NOT EVEN CLOSE! And was subsequently stopped in the 10th round of a 10 round fight.

The reason I could be dismissive of DLH was BECAUSE HE WAS NOT FIGHTING AT AN ELITE LEVEL AT THE TIME.......and he does NOT STAY IN SHAPE!

DLH also had the following issues going into the fight:

DLH has slower feet than shane, always has and I knew that because DLH is stiff and robotic that is going to get magnified by PBF.

DLH is a one arm fighter. You need to be able to punch from various angles against PBF with power in either hand. DLH does NOT have that. He relys on his left and he hadn't had any ZIP and pop in it for years. I don't care about his win over Ricardo.....just like I didn't care about it for Shane leading up to the Margo fight.

DLH has always tired and had issues with stamina. So when he fought PBF....he is an old fighter, who doesn't keep himself in top shape in between fights.....who had problems with stamina when he was young........and he is fighting a guy who is a very underrated body puncher in PBF.

........hmmm? DO YOU THING THAT IS GOING TO BE A PROBLEM BIG REG?

And let me go back to DLH's inactivity not only at the elite level but just boxing anyone period. DLH before fighting Ricardo hadn't fought since taking on Hopkins. Do you know how long ago that was from when he fought Ricardo (the guy who got caught using DIURETICS to make weight for the DLH fight)?

It was ALMOST 2 YEARS BIG REG!

    DLH fought Hopkins 9-18-2004

then he doesn't fight Mayorga until 5-6-2006

JESUS HOLMIE! Do you see how long that is. And keep in mind DLH doesn't stay in shape in between fights and he had a history with stamina.

then he fights PBF in 5-5-2007. Now keep in mind not only is DLH not keeping in Shape, he isn't a gym rat sparring with fighters throughout his time off.

At his age you can't do that.......that is why I could dismiss him. GET IT!?

yes, it is a moderate accomplishment but the biggest one in floyds welterweight career.
there is no reason floyd should not win but it still requires world class skill to do it so he deserves the credit for having said skill.

I stopped reading your long winded, ignorant rant right here. I don't know why you feel that your so improtant that your opinion is the only one on the planet that matters. Get over yourself. You are clearly biased towards Shane and overestimate the guy.

It's not even like I came at him or anything. I simply dissagreed. All I know is Hoya fought Floyd to a SD(although I thought Floyd clearly won). We'll see how well Shane does.

You're a damn liar. Anyway, the fight is happening in a couple of months. Oscar fought Floyd to a SD. We'll see how well Shane is and then we'll see how stupid my comment is then.

I will begrudingly give props for him finally waiting long enough to face a 38 year old Mosley. Thank God he didn't cut to the chase and fight Cotto, Mosley, Forrest, etc. years ago or else we would never have had this thread.
