Mayweather always lies and exaggerates his pay. Oh yeah, he "really" made $20 million from wrestling the Big Show. Oh yeah, he "really" made more money fighting Baldomir than he would have by fighting Margarito. He actually told R.A. the rugged man that he made a lot of money fighting Sharmba Mitchell, I forget the amount. I love Mayweather's style and ability. He is really something special. I get so tired of hearing about money from this cat. He has so much, yet that's all he speaks of. Making the most money doesn't make you the best fighter.

oh god... we're back at this 'total potential earnings' versus actual verifiable earnings.

There's no way Floyd can get $40m for fighting Shane. Complete balls.

Isnt that how much he got from fighting for Marquez though? Of course the split of the purse was insanely one-sided, but this fight has potential to sell a whole lot more. I don't think it's a stretch TBH.

Not even close. He had a $10 million guarantee for the Marquez fight, but then lost $600,000 from that for being 2 lbs overweight.

All up he wouldn't have even made half of $40 million, even with the one sided purse split that he wouldn't be getting this time.

Considering the names and hype involved I don't think it is a stretch. JMM sold what 1.2 million? With the gate, guaranteed purse, and ppv splits? I don't think it is a stretch at all. Now I am sure he is using the most optimistic projections.

I really feel this is no less than a record setting fight and Mayweather holds all of the cards.

He will make more than Pac, but not much more than the $10 million or so he made from the Marquez fight.

Marquez brought the huge latino market and had a pitiful share of the purse. The Mosley fight has marginally more mainstream appeal but without that latino market and Mosley has a much better purse split.

Why does anybody believe anything Pretty Boy Joy says anymore?

Is that just what you feel in your hating heart? This fight is bigger than the JMM fight and that one did the numbers you are talking about.

Man please. So you are saying Latino fight fans aren't tuning in to this one? Please. That is the funny part. FMJ goes into fights and absorbs opponents fans. I think Brits are probably his best fans now!

Logically this could be a $20-30 mil payday. It could also tank. However most of the other money crap he says has been decently solid. That is where the man finds his purpose. Earning. Even in the year Manny was shining, Mayweather made almost as much.

I do know though that Manny should be making more than $6 mil and dropping a $40 mil payday for this crap is laughable.

If you believe Mayweather will make $40 million I'd like to talk to you about a bridge I'm selling in Brooklyn.

$40 is a bit too steep.

Did you think he could make $40 on the Pac fight? This one seems almost as big.

I think he is doing some serious rounding, but it will be lucrative none the less. If they say the most optimistic projections are $36 million... Mayweather say $40!

$40 million is what some magazine article said he earned last year. How many fights did he have that year, and against who? Right.

He might have made 40 million in the entire year from boxing, his record label, his fashion label, his energy drink, real estate etc. etc. etc.

But anyone who thinks ANY fighter can make 40 million for one fight at the moment is a 14 year old with no understanding of economics, or just straight up ******ed.

What are you blabbering about now, tough guy?

    Brits HATE Floyd.

Look, if you can prove to me that Floyd makes $40 million in this fight, do it. Otherwise, STFU.

I think Mayweather is guaranteed more money than all fighters ... his guaranteed money isn't that much ... his guaranteed money is about 10-15m and the gate and revenue + sponsorship money totals up to 20+ million dollars ... he made 25m against DLH while DLH made 45m ... and Floyd also made 25m against Hatton ... the same goes for Marquez ... as long as he can push 1m buys nation wide + his affilliates in other countries make him a made player.

I think that guarantee against Pac was 30m + gate + PPV revenue and sponsorship ... Pac's was 24m .... and the same share of the revenue as Mayweather.

The 6m is guaranteed money ... not the total because when its all said and done Pac will make 20+ million for fighting Clottey.

The 40m for Floyd is not exaggerated ... Floyd will make that much because the fight against Mosley will sell in addition to the promotion rights Floyd's percentage on gate, revenue, and sponsorship will bring him a high payday.

The thing that Floyd doesn't lie about is that his opponents make a career high payday against him. (all of them)

Floyd is an affilliate with Sentana Sports in the UK ... and other markets in Europe.
