Yeah, no one but the three men who defeated him EVER tried to pressure him and actually land punches, otherwise he'd have more losses.
:good Chambers has underrated power because he's so willing to take his foot off the gas. But he can hit. And the accuracy, velocity and ring IQ I think can make up for any lack of brute strength he may have. Like Ali. Smart punching can be as effective as heavy-handed punching often enough.
But Wlad punches smart and heavy handede! That´s the difference! Wladimir is a smart fighter with great footwork and he is very fast and more tough than some of you thinks. Chambers knows it and he will remember this when he will stand face to face with Wlad in the ring.
56 pro HW fights, over a hundred amateur bouts, coming off an injury rehabilitation, wouldn't surprise me if he was on the slide. But I do kind of doubt it would be an all-at-once thing with a guy who takes care of himself like Wlad. But quick-handed fighters are the ones who tend to expose fading in a guy the most dramatically a lot of the time. We'll see pretty soon.
I think some people overrating Wladimir's power and underrating Chambers chin. If Eddie's chin is just as good as Rulsan Chagaev Chambers is very capable of winning the fight, the difference is Eddie won't get hit as much and Chambers will be landing punches on Dr. Steelhammer.
I don't think so. Chagaev is a good fighter for sure but the man got shut out completely and Eddie has phenomenal hand speed for a heavy. Unless he's taken out early, which isn't really Wlad's way anymore, I see him landing some good ones.
He didn't just get shut out, he looked like a joke. What the hell was Chagaev standing right in front of Wlad? His head movement was poor and predictable, he was just allowing Wladimir to smack him. Chambers is much more skilled and much more intelligent then Chagaev
people giving chambers too much credit.....wouldnt be the biggest upset ever but i just dont see it.....
People underrate Chagaev. I think it's just as much to Wlad's credit as Chagaev's blame there. If you listen to what Chris Byrd had to say about Wlad's jab, you may be inclined to view the guy's jab as really elite in timing, seems to be able to catch you before you move. Byrd even said he thought Wlad might have got him the same way if they were both six feet tall, he thought the jab was so good. Chagaev is actually a very intelligent fighter who turned pro with a very fine amateur pedigree. Very well schooled.
How do Chambers' achievements in the amateurs stack up against Chagaev's (two-time amateur world champion)? How do Chambers' achievements in the pro ranks stack up against Chagaev's (held a paper belt for a short while, beat a number of top 20 ranked boxers in Valuev, Ruiz and Virchis). I do like Chambers, he appears to be a very modest and nice guy, but in all fairness, Chagaev's track record just is head and shoulders above what Chambers has done in the last 10 years. If you like Chambers that's OK but then please do not disrespect Chagaev.
