Now that you mention it, I really cannot believe that there hasn't been a film made of the Louis - Schmelling story when you consider how many civil rights/race related films are made involving sport - remember the titans, invuctus. This is probably the greatest one of all.

I'd like to see a kind of American Pie type movie made about Hatton, coz he's just one of the lads.

I'd guess in order for the Louis-Schmelling 2 fight to be attractive to Hollywood they'd have to do a hatchet job on Max.

I'm guessing that means to turn him into the bad guy?

I think you could make a dramatic film/documentary on Ricky Hattons life...

Yeah, they need a baddie. They've got Hitler for the big picture but I reckon they'd also need Schmelling to come across badly. Joey Giardello got stitched up in "Hurricane" staring Denzel Washington and Max Baer got worse in Russell Crowes "Cinderella Man".

I suppose but i reckon the fact that Schmeling was secretely actually hiding Jews in the house could add an interesting spin to the film and make it something different from the norm.

I know this is kinda off topic, but does anyone know when the Ward film is coming out? It might be good, but it is Whalberg.

I would have probably suggested Gomez for a Brit if it wasn't the fact there is a film thats been on the shelf for ages.

I think he also snubbed Hitler by turning down a position in the SS and stayed a paratrooper in the regular army?

Not heard that but it sounds probable. Max must have been a man of strong principle to risk displeasing such a ruthless dictator. They don't make athletes like that anymore, probably because of all the money turns them into womenising, stuck up ****s like John Terry.
