From a very controversial and talented fighter. Chris Eubank is a legend, he always went against the grain :good and loved pissing people off.

As much as I like Eubank as a fighter, he is clearly deranged

why is it controversial? i happen to agree with him, and any time a fighter says he's doing it for the fans and for the love of the sport it's all done and printed the very next minute for good publicity. they say things their fans except them to say.

everyone is alone in this world and on their own road in life. fighters, just like any other human being deep down to their core, are not trying to prove anything to anybody, they are just trying to make a living. So yes, it's not about glory, or having someone kiss their ass and say you're the greatest fighter ever, it's all about making a buck.

fighters in the past fought once a week, why? because they loved getting out there and getting their brains bashed? No, they needed to make a living for themselves and their families. Today most successful boxers dont have to do that. It's called smart marketing and PPV. Any and all decision made for the next 6 or months are made in favor of earning the most cash when the time is most appropriate.

Nobody likes to get punched in a face, and boxing has a lot of tragic stories. You can appreciate the sport for the spirit and the lion will of its competitors, but you cant really love it for what it stands. It's violence done in the name of money.

    Another Eubank quote:

    "Boxing is a mugs game".

He also made a quote about 99% of boxers being used, abused and eventually disgarded like trash. It was no secret that he loathed many elements of the sport - but loved boxing in it's purest form.

I do think Eubank liked the art side of boxing, he was an obsessive trainer (esp with **** like shadow-boxing).

Eubank also said that Hamed - Soto was a good fight to watch.

I can see where Eubank is coming from. Though I truly believe alot fighters do love the sport, or at least love being in the spotlight (Jones, Mayweather). Without the dozens of titles around their waists or in their arms they feel naked in a sense. I can't imagine what it must feel like to walk into a bar or club and everyone knows your name. Every hot ***** wants to **** you, and every guy is jealous of you. Being champ/on top certainly has it's perks.

Eubank wasn't into that though. He was just weird.
