According to the press Valuev came to his senses and has accepted a fight with Vitali Klitschko. Valuev would never risk his own WBA belt vs. Vitali, but now that Valuev has no belt, and this is his largest pay day, he accepted a match. This will be Vitlai's 5th ring magazine rated opponent in a row since his comeback...Peter, Gomez, Arreola, and Johnson...to date he has stopped 3 of them, losing maybe 1-2 rounds in the process at age 37-38. Impressive. I expect a TKO win here for Vitlai, which will mean something since Valuev has never been stopped. I don't think Valuev deserved the nod vs Holyfield, or Donald, but I do think he beat Ruiz in one of the two fights, easily beat a former belt holder in Liachovich, and and was very competitive in a narrow loss with Chagaev.
As I mentioned in another threat, the fact or even the possibility that this fight may take place is a obvious refutation of the idea that Haye is a big star. Truth is that Valuev has a guaranteed rematch with Haye and he is now negotiating with Vitali for one simple reason: Haye is a nobody outside of the UK. And promoters have no confidence in his ability to sell a fight for another simple reason: he never has.
IF Valuev beats Vitali , then Haye in the rematch with Niko will have the chance to get the WBC belt . Haye is very lucky , as one other friend said . He may collect all the belts without fighting a Klitschko :yep
How do we know it's on? The last thing I read was that Bonte (K2 Manager) said that the fight is off and he used last week's Thursday night as the deadline. We haven't heard any news since then.
News from March 4th (German online newszine): http://www.focus.de/sport/boxen/box...scheitert-wohl-an-kampfboerse_aid_486660.html Valuev agreed to fight Vitali. The date is probably May 29th. Only remaining problem are the TV rights. K2 is legally bound to RTL, and Sauerland to ARD. But ARD cannot afford the TV rights (they are a public-law station and may only broadcast a limited amount of advertisement, which means they have less money for an individual event). But according to Chris Meyer, CEO of Sauerland Event, the TV rights "should not be an obstacle".
I hope it happens and Vitali beats him into retirement. I have no desire to watch Valuev fight again.
Good. I hope Vitali beats the Russian Sloth into retirement. I would rather see paint dry then see that guy box again. Hell, I'd rather see Ruiz fight than see Valuev fight. Vitali by KO.
If by next week we don't hear any definitive announcement that contracts have been signed then I guess its safe to say the fight is off for good.
what are you talking about haye fighting his mandatry ruiz , then hell probly fight bernard hokins in vegas , i still havent seen anything concrete about this rematch clause
All the better for us: Haye will need the big man if he wants to make some money. I think Haye is a great fighter of sorts (I wouldn't give a damn if Vitali got him in the ring or not if I didn't) but you can't talk **** like that about a man and then not fight him. Lets get Valuev and Haye in the ring with the Doctor and let Vitaly retire as a legitimate, undeniable great.
I think Vitali stops Valuev late. Whilst watching Haye v Valuev all i could think about regarding either Klitschko v Valuev was Wlad stopping Valuev mid rounds and Vitali beating Valuev up stiopping him late. Hope the fight does happen.
