I know, but where are his Olympic medals? Khan began boxing competitively at the age of 11, with early honours including three English school title, three junior This content is protected titles, and This content is protected at the This content is protected . This content is protected In early 2004 he won a gold medal at the European Student Championships in This content is protected , and in South Korea several months later he won world junior lightweight title after fighting five times in seven days. One of his notable early amateur fights was against This content is protected , whom he defeated in a second round stoppage. This content is protected Khan qualified for the This content is protected by finishing in first place at the This content is protected in This content is protected . He was Britain's sole representative in boxing at the Athens Games, winning a This content is protected at the age of 17 in the This content is protected category. He was Britain's youngest Olympic boxer since This content is protected in 1976. He lost in the final to This content is protected , the Cuban who had also beaten him several months earlier in the pre-Olympic match-ups in Greece. In 2005 he avenged the two losses by beating the 34-year-old Kindelan in his last amateur fight. Khan finished his amateur career with a win/loss record of 100/2.
He lost his place to Rock Allen and decided to turn professional instead? He did so because him and his brother Vaughn were going to make it together, unfortunately his brother Vaughn is in jail, and so is his entire team from back in 04'. Do you think it was easier to make the US team than the UK team in 2004? Do your research son, you dont know ****!
You dont even know what I am talking about because you weren't even into boxing in 04'. Devon, Vaughn and Khan were all highly touted and in various articles back in early 2000's.. but I guess you were being breast fed by then, eh? :hi:
So who did the U.S team send to the 2004 games in lightweight cat? and did they get a medal? Khan won silver Who did the U.S team send to the junior games in 2003? and what medal did they get? Khan won gold
Darni you nob-end, take your Khan posts to threads in effect. This is not a Khan thread:hi: And please, educate yourself on other fighters than Khan, and the politics involving GBProtections. Maidana is being robbed of an honest, well deserved chance. But Khan got his chance off of a win against an old, shopworn fighter in Barrera. I see.
Rock Allen and Devon were light welterweights, Rock was basically more matured and experienced than Devon at the time they fought and still it was a draw, with Devon coming up from lightweight for the qualifiers, to give Vincente Escobedo who have been sparring partner with Team Alexander in the past. So there you go, Vincente Escobedo was sent as a lightweight for team USA.
Clearly, since he let Prescott gobble up Khan in one round. Since his move to GBProtections, not one solid puncher has been in his way, for obvious reasons :hi:
Thanks for the insight to the U.S story, but then what did Vincente win at the games, you are ment to send your top crop to the games, its not Khan's fault these guys did not make it.
They weren't even in the same weight class, and since when were we talking about Vincente Escobedo? We're talking about Devon and the reason he didnt make it to the olympics, because of a highly experienced fighter in Rock Allen. Devon was basically a kid, and had to qualify against much stronger opposition, sadly he didn't make it, but I dont see where he suffers from not having a medal in his backpack, he has taken a hard road without being protected by the likes of Warren and GBP along the way. Don't hate on Devon, watch him tonight and make a fair assessment on him, he's a great young boxer. :smoke
Khan is 23, so you think he left Warren to join GBP and duck punchers all his life? get real, soon will have to face a puncher, otherwise Khan could of just stayed with Warren to keep fighting C , B class fighters at home.
