Yeah, i don't know about asero! im pinoy btw. this topic should have never been brought up. it just brings out the biases and hatred in people, mexicans and pinoy. there really is no comparison when it comes to BOXING. Mexico will always be superior to the Philippines. Us flips are natural brawlers and the mexicans are more superior in boxing techniqes. If we had the Mexican trainers, and better diet, then I think we will be there with the best in the world.

PACQUIAO is the exception. There won't be anyone like him in a loooong time. The only bragging rights us Filipinos have over Mexico in BOXING is we have 1 BOXER, who is at par, if not better(debatable), than Mexicos best ever (JCC), on the ATG list! I know Mexicans dont want to hear that, but when all is said and done, the boxing historians will have pac ranked very highly.

So to my fellow kababayans, lets chill on " whos country produces better BOXERS". MEXICO WILL ALWAYS BE THERE AND CONTINUE TO DOMINATE at the lighter weights.

Dont worry though, the floodgates are open, thanks to pac. Our boxers are slowly gettting attention worldwide. We just need to stop rushing them and stop "looking for the next pacman". They just need to keep boxing in the US, and get the right DIET AND TRAINING.

Filipinos, like our primos from across the border, love to fight. The WARRIOR SPIRIT, is embedded into our culture. Our people may be small, but once we lose our cool, we are ferocious and don't back down to anyone. But I suggest, we start acting like PAC, and be HUMBLE!!

I think that the problem lies in that your fighters are rushed or hyped in order to make a quick buck.

Mexican boxers usually don't employ a dietician.

I think Bautista was rushed and could have become a solid fighter if they would have let him develop more. In particular Sonsona does not have the mindset required to be a contender or a champion.

Gerry Penalosa to me is a class guy that deserves more respect. He actually cares about fighters... he negotiated a fight Contract for a Pinoy fighter once and Koncz essentially taxed him claiming he negotaited the fight and was the fighters manager. Gerry was supposed to get like $500 bucks for what he did but gave it back when he realized Koncz illegally took $1000 more than what he was supposed to.

I am a bit Shocked that you say your fighters should be humble like Pac, when Pac has nothing on Gerry. I mean no insult to Pac but Gerry really cares and his actions show it. I would expect him to become your next great trainer after he retires.

(the fighter was Juanito Rubillar and Koncz declared himself the matchmaker)

I should of said NUTRITION, instead of DIET. ". Remember, the Philippines is a poor country. Most of the people in the country live in poverty. Majority of the poor aspiring boxers, dont have access to protein shakes, square meals, best training equipment.

Just compare the body types. Filipinos from America compared to the PI. American born pinoys are 3-5 inches taller and have more mass. Its all about the nutrients from the foods we eat here in the states.

I just think they have more competition these days... Be prepared, boxing is becoming a much more international sport these days....

americans and mexicans have to make room for europeans, asians, south americans, and africans as the sport further progresses

For instance, if cubans are allowed to turn pro, i see much less domination by lets say puerto ricans...

Its just a matter of more comp than anything...

Remember how england used to dominate euro boxing? Look what happend with that? Things change

i think that barrera, morales, marquez, castillo, arce, vazquez would still be top elite fighters had their prime be in 2010. But let's see, in 2010, only JMM and montiel can be considered elite. And these two guys are not young anymore
