so if I win round 1 to 7 and you win rounds 8 - 12 that means you win the fight ?

is this how you guys feel ?

I myself find this to be another reason alongside "aggressiveness beating punches landed" why there are so much robberies and stupid decisions in boxing.

Judges like to give early rounds to the fighter they WANT to win the round and not who deserves it. Either because they want the said fighter to win or because they dont want to score a one-sided fight and make it look competitive so it isnt boring to them in the later rounds.

The winner of round 1 gets 10 points the loser gets 9 points or less
In round 2. The winner gets 10 points, the loser gets 9 or less. Round 3 10 points to the winner, and 9 points or less to the loser. In the fourth round. It is 10 points to the winner and 9 or less points to the loser. The fith round the loser gets 9 or less points and the winner gets 10 points. (thought I'd switch it up a bit.:D) Lets see in the sixth round 10 points to the winner, 9 or less to the other guy. in round 7 the winner is given 10 points the loser gets 9 or less. In round 8 the winner gets 10 points. While the loser of the round gets 9 or less. Round 9 Ten points to the winner, and nine or less to the loser. Round 10. The winner gets 10 points, the loser gets 9 or less. In the 11th round the winner of the round gets 10 points and the loser gets 9 or less. Finaly in the 12th round. The winner of the round gets....10 points the loser gets 9 or less.
If the fight goes the whole 12 rounds they add up the scores and declare a winner.
I can not think of one sport where you get more points for scoring latter in the game/match/contest than you do for scoring early. In football a tuchdown is worth 6 points no matter when it is scored. In soccer a goal is worth 1 point no matter when it is scored. In basket ball a field goal is worth 2 points no matter when it is scored. In boxing a round is worth 10 points to the winner and 9 or less to the loser of that round no matter what round it is.

Excellant post, I believe it's called the 10 point must system...I don't think it's very new either!

No, rounds are not and should never be weighted. The reason they're called championship rounds is because they're presumed to be right about where an average modern boxer hits his "wall" and becomes susceptible to a late knockout due to fatigue (based on how many rounds they train for). When training was more rigorous, and men had to plan for 15 round title fights (before they were cut to 12 as a safety precaution), they were typically able to endure a little longer and the "dig down deep" period was 13, 14, and 15 instead of 10, 11, and 12.
