How was Trinidad able to ko Joppy with ease yet couldn't vs. a smaller man (Mayorga)?

Not at all , Joppy just wasnt that good . Tito caught him flush at will , thats what troubled Joppy .

 

I dont know man , i thought Vargas was all but done by the time Tito got him and Joppy a B level fighter to be honest .

Wasn't Trinidad coming out of retirement after two years... Through the Joppy and guys like Vargas and Reid Trinidad was at his best. He's fight with Mayorga was after those performances and are we forgetting what Mayorga is known for? You need to do more research...

 

Mayorga may have laughed but he was wobbled moments after. Mayorga did a good job pretending early on but his face said a thousand words.

When he fought Cherifi, he still had that loss to Hopkins in his mind, but still KO'd him. Mayorga's toughness lasted as long as it could but he eventually surrendered to Tito's power as well.

Hopkins, Wright, and Jones were simply to smart and to good. I don't see your point.

Because Mayorga had a better chin, plain and simple. A good chin can usually withstand punches through several weight divisions. Take James Toney as an example who has gone up from middleweight to heavy without a single KO loss on his record through 81 professional bouts.

Do you know what age Vargas was when he fought Tito? Or that he was undefeated? Had beating Quartey and Winky somehow made him a shot fighter?

Oh, and Mayorga had an iron chin. That's why he wasn't stopped as easily.

 

Maybe because after this fight, trainers got more watchful about how tito's trainers wrapped his hands. Like Richardson did before the hopkins fight(and got them to change their wrapping sequence to comply with state rules)

 

Cause he had a tougher chin, weight is not every thing although it is an advantage it is not a given that a bigger guy will take a harder punch. For instance id bet that a welter like Margo takes a better shot than SM like Jermaine Taylor. Or Penalosa takes a better shot than Amir Kahn.
