Cotto should have lost against Torres, Corley and most certainly Judah if he had not blatantly gone for low blows in these fights. AT WORSE, the Clottey fight should have atleast been a draw. I had Shane clearly ahead in his fight against Cotto. Had it not been for the three blind mice (judges) and the fact Shane was fighting Cotto in his backyard, he would have earned an easy UD.

This guy has been more hype than substance. His daddy Arum shielded him from Money as far as he could. They both know that would've been a bloody massacre (ala Gatti/Money).

Cotto has no business at 154 unless its for a paper title which he notoriously has a reputation of picking up vacant titles. Regardless, Foremen is going to toy with Cotto and shock the boxing world. I'm just amazed at the amount of posters who fail to see this. Take the blinders off and analyze all of the facts that Cotto has been done and overhyped for a long time now.

Cotto fought everybody worth fighting at the top level of the sport , ducked nobody and made every world title fight he ever fought in competetive , he's beat the best @147 in his era so whats your beef .

You know what Cotto is what every fighter should look to emulate , multiple world champion in multiple weight divisions , a gentleman in and out the ring and gave us fans fights to remember !!!!!!!

If you dont like Cotto then IMO you aint no real boxing fan .

cotto was never a true world champion, he was never recognized as the undisputed or lineal champ in any weight class, merely just a title holder and he never fought mayweather so he didnt fight all the best of his era, cotto is very overrated in terms of his boxing ability and accomplishments, but imo he is very underrated as a person, the guy is a classy guy, and is a good role model for how to account for yourself while in the limelight, but unfortunately none of that makes him any greater in terms of his status as a fighter, he is a good to very good fighter during his era, not even an elite fighter in his era, let alone all time status.

cotto fought almost everyone in the WW including pac, mosley and margarito. he was even avoided by floyd back then who preferred just to retire because cotto was not a draw, according to floyd's camp.

anyone who say that cotto is just a mere hype are just ignorant idiots or joyboys.

Cotto has been a great warrior, willing to take on all comers in his weight division, Ive never noticed him as a fighter who goes low alot, possibly if he does it could be part of his body punching style straying low, but I cant recall him saving himself in a fight by going low.
Some fighters get reputations for hitting below the belt, Hopkins does it alot in close, and I remember Trinidad catching Vargas low a few times, but cant really say that ive seen Cotto do much of this

Before I add this moron to my ignore list, I've got something to say to him:

**** you, you are officially a racist ******. Cotto fought everyone worth fighting, never ducked anybody and even in his two defeats (one of which was to a man with plaster in his gloves) he showed immense courage and heart. Look at his record. The list of names he has fought is as good as any active welterweight, including guys that no one else would fight like Margacheato, Clottey and Pacquiao.

he lost to margo, he didn't face williams, he arguably lost to mosely, didn't face pbf, lost to manny, the win over clottley was debatable and he had to low blow judah. he did however beat impressively the ring legends jennings and gomez. how did he beat the best at 147 in his era?

TBH, while I understand controversy regarding the Clottey fight , what's NOT controversial is that Cotto beat Mosley. He plain outboxed Mosley. Even the commentators said so.

He did hit low against Judah, but really now, that didn't lose Judah the fight. You shake off the pain and you're ok (most of the time). You get a headbutt like Cotto did against Clottey and you're at big disadvantage, because whenever you get hit, the wound resulted opens and falling blood obstructs your vision.

Cotto overcame adversity multiple times. He's a great great fighter. And what's this crap about not facing Williams? Who did at WW? Margarito and Quintana. Both of whom are very big WWs.

this whole joke of a post is basically trying to attack Cotto because Pac beat him up. If Mayweather had fought him and beat him Cotto would be considered better. If you use the same sense of judgement, Mayweather's career above 35 is a joke - IF you use the same sense of judgement this clown is.

look at the names Cotto fought!
    140
    Juuko
    Bazan
    Maussa
    Sosa
    Ndou
    Pinto
    Bailey
    Torres
    Branco
    Malignaggi
    then at 47
    Quintana
    Urkal
    Judah
    Mosley
    Gomez
    Margarito
    Jennings
    Clottey
    Pac
    and now at 54
    Foreman

yes there was some controversy in some fights like the Corley fight, even the Malignaggi fight which if you simply score the fight some people give to Paulie even though Cotto rearranged his face Paulie won his share of rounds in some eyes, I watched the Mosley fight twice and first I thought Mosley won, later I thought Cotto won it, Judah yes you got to wonder if the low blows changed the course of the fight but it was still a helluva Cotto performance, but he beat Torres fairly even though he nearly lost by KO. I thought Clottey beat him in a close fight.

In any event, Cotto is a great top level fighter, an honorable guy who fought the best.

I wonder what you would have thought of Cotto if he made it all the way to pound for pound number one and blew off fights with all the competition fights everyone wanted to see, including a rematch with the biggest name in boxing he barely beat by SD, and then he went into pro wrestling and retired right when the entire world was watching him in his absolute prime.

    Think about this one:

Cotto would have likely defeated EVERYONE on Mayweather's resume to date.

    who would have beat him?
    Gatti?
Mitchell? Judah? Baldo? DLH at 54? Hatton at 47? Juan Manuel Marquez at 47?

    So shut the **** up.
