Black fighters aren't held to a higher standard. Its been repeated so much that black fighters are held to a higher standard that in the end its had the opposite effect. Look at the ring magazine top10 p4p you got 5 black fighters in there, 6 if you consider Caballero a black fighter. Yahoo had Paul Williams @ #3 p4p, and Sergio Martinez who I thought beat PW wasn't even in the top 10. What's the higher standard exactly?
bradley and alexander have to keep winning and they will get the big fights..devon beats any latin or euro fighter at 140 ill put dollars on that..
OP has proved how much of an idiot he really is.... How has he screwed himself if according to you.... the number 1 guy in the division (bradley) is willing to fight him Who cares about khan, jmm, maidana ect... I loved how you dropped kotelniks name in there :rofl That guy isnt very good, and he dosent bring any money either If alexander and bradley fight, the winner is the wbc, ibf, wbo champion. Thats undisputed right there.... LOL khan can keep fighting guys with 5 ko's on their record, we will all know who is real champ So wtf is the point of making this thread??? Alexander has screwed himself by having the oppurtunity to become undispuited in the division...... since non relevent fighters dont want to fight him or bradley? SO they must fight each other?? How is this a bad situation?atsch
Dude...I remember I mentioned in one of my threads "What fighters or fighters have the Ability / Power to move up in weight 2 or 3 divisions and win a Title" And I said although Pacquiao has done it, the fighters he beat were already exposed, damaged or done. And of course, you responded with your normal insults, name-calling a profanity, you know...THE USUAL! But recently a posters (can't remember his name) created a HOT thread titled: The ultimate pac EXPOSED Videos. Where The Thread starter posted Videos of Freddie Roach Saying THE EXACT SAME **** I SAID: [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CL1HGwQpqCo&feature=player_embedded[/ame] That they only wanted to fight Oscar at 147lbs to drain him, and that he's not the same fighter. In fact he mentioned that Mosley came to Roach's Gym and Ask for the Fight with Pacquiao ...And Roach's response was "Only if you agree to fight at 142 or 143lbs". And Shane's reply was "you fought Oscar at 147lbs"...Roach: "WELL YOUR NOT OSCAR, YOU'RE BETTER THAN OSCAR". He also mentioned that Mayweather ruined Hatton and that Cotto was damaged. Yet I never saw a reply from you or Bability. Yet you guys have No problem with Popping in on the Hundreds of Mayweather Hating Threads or in my Threads calling me a Racist. Now, do you see the difference between you, Bability and I? I just called you guys out...yet I did it without name-calling, insults not profanity. Oh yeah..Now I remember, the TS was kingmiller8282.
Hey Darryl what you forget is that Roach already said that Pac would beat Oscar in his prime too. And he said Pac would beat Floyd. And he said Pac is the best fighter in the world. You can't claim that Roach's word is gospel when it fits your agenda and say it isn't when it doesn't.
The funny thing is that black fighters get the benefit of the doubt rankings-wise because people expect them to be the best due to being the dominant ethnic group in boxing for decades. Due to those preconceptions, a foreign fighter has to accomplish 120% to get ranked because magazines and such will give the ranking to the black fighter if it's even close to debatable. Paul Williams as the best fighter in boxing if Pac and Floyd retire? Give me a break. Tell me why he's even head and shoulders above Adamek at this point on a P4P list, because I can't see it. As far as why black fighters like Bradley, Dawson, Williams, and Alexander can't get more big fights, racism has **** to do with it - the fact is that most of the US's biggest boxing stars in the past 25 years, outside of De la Hoya, have been black. That's not what's holding those guys back from stardom, not by a longshot. The solution for these fighters is simple: Build a bigger fanbase, and the fights will come. The problem with prematurely high rankings is that the fighter's asking price outstrips his drawing power because he hasn't had the time to build up that fanbase. That's why as much as Williams and Dawson might want just straight superfights, they still have to build up their names by beating their peers in decisive, exciting fashion. Do that, and eventually their drawing power can match their ranking. For Alexander and Bradley, it's only going to take a couple more good wins. I don't get the sense of bitching about it now in their cases when both of those men are right in the middle of a significant growth period in their careers and earning power. They're well on their way.
I was impressed with Devon but then again I saw a couple things I didn't like. He would only work when circling to his right, which is fine if the fighter your against (Urango) allows you to do this. I can see Devon having a problem with say Bradley if he is pushed to circle to his left.. This is the biggest problem I have with the whole Spinks/Cunningham style.. Take the jab and circling away and you've got quite a big problem on their hands. Devon seems like a tough kid, I like how he turned it up when Urango was also picking it up, I just think his habit is going to get him into some trouble one day
youre overrating the win because he managed to stop urango, but lets be real. alexander did good and allowed the fight to be fan friendly but he got hit too much and would not compete against pacquiao. he had all the advantages against a crude slugger who was much slower, predictable, yet managed to get hit so often when he was in urangos range.
The curse of quality but I am sure you could assemble a great tournament with the young fighters you listed.
Well, he does have 2 of the belts and HBO behind him. If they keep building him up after another fight he could be getting great attention. They'll start facing the other young fighters against him them.
Urango did well but the only punches he land was the right hook that didn't bother Alexander at all. Alexander did block some of the right hooks very well. Before Alexander, Urango never lost to fighters that didn't run and didn't clinch like there's no tommorow. Urango 2 losses came from Berto and Hatton who both clinch way too much while Alexander didn't do that. If Alexander did the same thing like Berto, you would only argue about holding.
