I,m not substantially certain either way about this one...

Somehow, I think I would go with Cotto...:admin No seriously, I think Cotto could've taken Hatton prime for prime at 140, because he does have good boxing skills, a really good jab, and he can take a decent punch.

I always thought this would have been an interesting fight at some stage of their career, although it's probably too late now.

    What y'all think?

The Hatton that fought Zoo (plus ref help) would beat Cotto. At 140.

You don't know who you would pick? Yet you say Cotto takes Hatton in his prime aswell. Kinda dumb if you think that and at the same time you don't know who to pick.

Each guy at their best at 140... Cotto wins. Would not count out a KO either.

Yeah I tend to think so. I see Cotto keeping him at arms length with that jab. And I see him doing a number on the body on the inside.

And he proved against Joshua Clottey that he is a pretty decent wrastler... So I don't think Hatton holds too much of an edvantage there...

I always felt that 140 Cotto beats Hatton and still do till this day. I'm talking the Cotto of the Pinto and Sosa fights.

I used to think that Hatton had no chance since Cotto seemed to do most things better than Hatton, however, a few years have passed and the shine of Cotto's performances have faded. Hatton on the other hand is hard to judge, his punch resistance seems to have dropped considerably. I presume this is due to his terrible lifestyle, but perhaps he was always a bit shakey and just managed to get away with it against lower level competition.

The deciding factor for me is Hatton's punch resistance, if he was actually more resilliant in the past then I think he may have been able to wear Cotto down over 12 (if he pulled another performance like he did against Kostya). But if Hatton was always a bit shakey then Cotto would probably have broken him down mid to late fight.

I don't think either are particularly good style match ups for each other.

Cotto wouldn't like the high pace and pressure of Hatton - especially at 140.... whereas Hatton is/was vulnerable to the body and left hooks.

Whichever bothers the other the most..... I'd be tempted to say Hatton, who was the more proven/accomplished at the weight.

Cotto would take him(except of course if Parriss is the "referee").He's just a better fighter.Actually,I hope the fight is made now.

I think this one would have been tough to call, and I wished we'd have seen it. To be honest I'd quite liked to see it now up at 147. I think the Ricky Hatton which beat Kostya Tzsyu would have done a job on Cotto. Maybe even stopped/ retired him late on in the fight. Hatton would have probably just beat him on points though. I think Ricky's stamina would have been the deciding factor.

I definitely think hatton's punch resistance has gone down. He took some real bombs in the Tzsyu fight, and Tszyu hits hard. Hatton only got put on the floor once in his pro career, Mayweather and pacman aside. And he did sem to get wobbled by Juan Lazcano too, and he's not a big puncher. So I definitely reckon his punch resistance has gone down, maybe to all the wars he's been in. Hatton has always defended with his face.

im surprised at how many people have put cotto win by KO. when hatton was in his prime, everyone thought tszyu would beat him too but hatton was an animal back then.

its a close one and i think it could go either way, but i'd say 60% hatton and 40% cotto by KO

Cotto puts his combo's together very well too. Not good for someone moving in face first like Hatton.

But man, the body shots this fight would have would be painhful to watch!
