that's great. we got two very good fighters fighting on saturday, which is excellent for us hardcore boxing fans, i can't wait, but wheres the talk? wheres the hype? wheres the pages and pages talking about pacquiao against clottey? wheres the news headlines in the paper and tv? theres hardly anyone mentioning this fight, so on a bigger scale of things, it's not actually that great. it's not going to attract that much new blood to the sport put it that way. can't you see the positives in having a floyd-pacquiao fight than a fight that is very good like pacquiao-clottey, but with a very small fraction of attraction compared to a fight like pac-mayweather? i can see tons of positives.
I hope Clottey wins. He'll finally get that big win & recognition he deserve but it won't be a easy fight.
I'm not stupid. Of course I see the positives for Arum and Oscar. But that's not gonna make me root against Clottey, who I have rooted for in all of his fights before.
The only reason i want Clottey to win is because i want this will blow up in Arum's face. But i don't have enough hate and at the end of the day i want Pacman to win and believe he will win.
I'm pulling for Clottey but I favor Pacquiao....he is so dynamic and throws crisp combinations and his foot speed( not his foot work) is impressive. It would be great to see Clottey win, who is unknown to casual fans but known as a very good fight by REAL fight fans. He has a better shot than they give him. This content is protected
Boxing doesn't need the hype-machine circus for all events. I mean it's not that I think it's good this fight is missing alot of build-up, but it's not all bad, I mean we got month of build up to the biggest fight that never happened in 2010, and after all talk is just talk. I wanna see a fight happen instead of dreaming one up, and we got a good one coming up the 13th; after all boxing happens in the ring aight+++
seems to me that you're a fan of clottey more so than actually a fan of what is best for boxing. that's ok, but a person like me who's just a fan of boxing, and that means i like all boxers, talented and crap. i probably think differently than you do, because pacquaio-mayweather wouldn't only be good for arum and oscar, it benefits a much wider scale than that.
I hope josh startches him for many reasons including the horse**** manny and his team has fed us over the last few months but mainly because I want to see the look on arums face when it happens. He's treated josh like **** in the run up to this fight
when i watch the news, i want to see the sport i love on the news, i don't just want to see it on the sports channels. when i look at the paper, i don't want to read about the sport i love on the sports pages, i want to read about it on the front page. when i'm at work, i would love for non boxing fans to actually talk about the sport i love. when i'm at the gym, i would love for people around me just to mention the sport i love, and you know why, it's because i love boxing, and i'm a fan of boxing, and when that happens i know the benefits the sport i love is gettng. the last time i can officially say that happened through my personal experience was when tyson fought lennox lewis, and i know that the magnitude of a fight like pacquiao-mayweather would benefit the sport of boxing by doing that again. clottey and mosley isn't going to benefit the sport i love like that, and that's why i'm rooting for mayweather and pacquiao. clottey and mosley can fight in a big fight against eachother afterwards.
Im pulling for him 100percent. I like pac n all but I think Clottey has a real good chance, cant wait to c it.
idk. Everybody likes an upset and I would love to see Pacquiao get KTFO to stop the manufactured hype train. But at the same time I'd rather see him get his beatdown in the biggest fight in years against Floyd.
Thats BS. You not being aware of what someone is putting in your hands are completely different from what comes out of another person's mouth. Roach doesnt even have contact with Pac outside camp...its not as if he calls Pac, ask for permission before he says something, he just says it. Look at the catchweight or not fiasco with Clottey fight, Koncz says catchweight, Roach says no catchweight, Arum says no catchweight...its all mixed, they all lead different lives and when pushed for opinion they give theirs, which will differ. Its not like they all go on a meeting and agree what is gonna be said and not said. My question still hasnt been answered.
I agree boxing is supposed to be a huge international sport, with much publicity and furore sourounding the big championship fights. However that's not what I dispute. It's the whole act that promoters like Arum or ODLH put on, not to promote the sport, but to try and make the most money, and the result can sometimes hurt the sport a bit. It not the way to go IMO. It's just nice to see a fight that's not hyped up like they usually do, although as I've said I do agree that's it's been too quiet when you look at the caliber of the event, but maybe that's because people are used to being feed with trash talk and commercials, so they the whole thing about talking to a random guy about boxing and spreading the news that way isn't happening.
