What do you think about him?

Is this extremely young american-looking mexican the next star of boxing?

Have read more about him than I have seen but looks to have a chance to be a good fighter. We will see when he starts fighting legitimate guys.

If he smokes Matt Hatton on May 1 then it'll begin.

No (ie go back and watch the larry mosley fight) If they want this guy to be a star they should just keep him away from anyone with skill for the next 3 to 4 years and let him get more experience.

This kid has potential, no doubt. I havn't seen Matt Hatton fight, so i don't really know what kind of a threat he poses for Canelo. But if Matt fights like his brother Ricky and leads with his head, Canelos left hooks and straight rights will put him on ***** street.

X2! He needs more experience but by the looks of it they are moving his competition level up a noth everytime. Lets just hope he doesn't become the next Ortiz.

You haven't been to Mexico City or Monterrey have you? :yep You see blonds with blue eyes! American looking...:patsch :rofl

You can't judge a fighter with ONE fight...I agree that against Mosley he showed many flaws especially defensively but since this fight he has improved steadily and IMO has all the tools to become one of Mexixo's top fighters in near future...:deal

Gotta love how people keep bringing up a fight that happened a year and a half and 10 fights ago (when the kid was 18) to give an example of why Saul Alvarez won't be good.

Sure, he needs to be brought along slowly, but the Larry Mosley fight doesn't prove squat.

I've seen many of his fights. He reminds me of the young Cotto. He's a strong, relaxed, hard-hitting boxer-puncher with some impressive tools and actually some decent wins for a teenager, but you could tell he's work in progress, footwork, defense, rhythm and timing are not quite there, but he's improving.

Which is the reason I think it was early to sign with Golden Boy. With Oscar lacking a potential crossover star, Canelo might get rushed into a biggie too early. Alvarez is already packing arenas in Mexico, but the way I see it, one or two years are definitely needed before thinking big. He's learning the game in the pro ring, and there's absolutely no rush at 19 to take on the world.

Heard a lot about him and anxiously awaiting to see him fight. I hope he's on the PBF-Mosley undercard.
