Surely that should mean that he drained himself and ****ed his body up permanently from his MW years, which means he was physically faded.

did he look physically faded as a lhw? did he fight like it? no! i wouldnt say the weight loss had a big impact on his body because it can adjust over time and his record backs that up,again i refer you to my previous post! what wars has hopkins been in?

I don't know what guys who start these thread don't understand ... there is no way in hell, at any point of their careers ... would Hopkins or Jones would be able to beat Calzaghe.

Calzaghe proved that he was a better fighter than both of those and there's nothing that could change that.

and what does that say about the object of your affections that he chose to fight well below his natural weight the majority of his career? fighting former welterweight champions? i mean he was clearly the bigger man in the jc fight.

Against Wright he was in a competitive fight and was forced to fight at a higher pace then he would have liked. Against Tito he was dominating and fighting within himself. The way he raised his workrate and intensity in the later rounds suggest he could have set a higher pace then he did, had he wanted to.

Also if the you at other fights like Joppy in 2003 according to compubox he landed 419 punches on Joppy at a connect rate of 51%, so he threw 822 punches that night.

    http://www.compuboxonline.com/notes/hopkins_notes.shtml

When Calzaghe fought Hopkins he threw 707 punches to Hopkins 468. Of course Calzaghe is easily capable of throwing more but Hopkins has a tendency of reducing opponents workrates as he is simply not there to be hit.

So a fight around that time suggests Hopkins could have come close to matching Calzaghe for work rate and therefore would do probably do better than he did when they did fight.

What?! No way in hell ROY JONES JR. can ever beat Calzaghe? What performance does Calzaghe have to say that he could last the distance, let alone beat the Jones of the Toney fight?

Hopkins would win for sure. Calzaghe barely beat an old version of Hopkins.

    What does it say, exactly?

Calzaghe was at a higher weight class for most of his career.

Tito just demolished Joppy, and had proven himself more at that weight than Hopkins did against Tarver and Winky. And he was getting paid 10 million for Oscar. Both had titles also.

Out of respect he didn't knock out Jones ... and because Hopkins didn't engage saved him from getting stopped.

Joe Calzaghe walks around close to 190 lbs - if not more ... he's a way bigger man than Hopkins naturally.

Joe Calzaghe would destroy James Toney who was too slow ...

    :lol::lol::lol::lol::lol::lol::lol:

Joe was the one on his ass in the fight. Them pitty-pat slaps were really breaking down the iron-chinned Hopkins, alright.:rofl

The Danny Green fight showed how shot Roy was, and also how **** Lacy turned out to be after Roy pounded on him.

Based on your logic Jones Jr was still at his peak against Johnson and Tarver as hadn't been in any wars. Also he was picking on smaller men in these fights as he had fought and won and heavyweight prior to these fights. :patsch

Hopkins is clearly faded at light heavy. He is unable to throw as many punches as he used to and doesn't fight at the same intensity.

As for what wars he has been in. I'd say the fights against Echols where very rough especially the second fight. Though I wouldn't class it as a war. By your rational if a fighter avoids getting into wars he can have an infinite peak, like age and general wear and tear will have no effect over the years.

AS great as Hopkins is i think Calzaghe just had the wrong style for him. Too fast and too active for Hops.
Actually im pretty sure head to head Calzaghe beats Hops almost everytime.
Calzaghe vs Jones stylewise would be closer in their prime but idk who i would pick there.
