Intentional headbutts. PacMan's been badly bothered by dirty guys before. Nedal Hussein, Agapito Sanchez (+), Hector Velazquez in the early rounds. He was too "clean" to retaliate even with Freddie urging him to get some payback. If Joshua wrestles and headbutts him, I honestly don't know how Pacquiao will react. Will he deal with it in a more even-handed manner or will he still play the fair-haired choir boy, now that he has developed into a more complete fighter? This aspect is surprisingly not emphasized in recent articles on the fight. For all it's worth, it may just dictate how the fight goes in its entirety.
That should be a concern in Pacquiao's corner. The chances of a cut from a clash of heads already increase when you have a lefty vs. orthodox, but it's even more of a risk given Clottey's tendency to headbutt. I wouldn't be all that surprised if Clottey won a technical decision, before he went into his late-fight fade.
clottey just doesn't throw enough punches and pac will throw a million punches and even if they don't hurt clottey,he'll still look bad because he's all covered up
A couple things that Clottey brings to the table that Pacquiao may not have seen before or at least at this level are a great defense, size, and durability. Clottey is a defensive genius in my opinion. His high guard practically covers his face and most of his body. He works from his defense which also means that his offense comes from his defense. Clottey is similar to Arthur Abraham in this respect. Clottey may also be the physically strongest boxer that Pacquiao has yet to face, and Clottey may zoom up to around the high 150's or low 160's on fight night. He has the frame to carry that weight, and his style works perfectly well with it. Pacquiao is fortunate to have fought Cotto in his last fight, at least he's accustomed to someone who is strong and big. Lastly, Clottey is physically strong, durable, and has great stamina. Clottey should not have stamina problems. He can also take a lot of punches especially since he will be deflecting many of Pac's punches with his defensive guard. Pacquaio should win the fight. He has the right tools especially power. Pacquiao has the power to hurt Clottey. There will be openings in Clottey's defense, and Pac has the speed to place them. He also has the workrate to slowly wear him down. Zab Judah, despite his amazing speed, could not hurt and slow down Clottey, because he did not have the power or the workrate. He didn't have the right tools, but Pacquiao does, at least on paper.
It definitely could happen, but it's unlikely... 4 to 1 is about right. We'll have to see if Pacquiao can take shots from a legit welterweight for more than 1 round.
Man, I'd hate to see anyone get headbutted by Clottey. Clottey's head looks like a ****ing anvil. I don't think he is the dirty type though.
Manny's head is not exactly weak in comparison to Clottey's. It'd be like a bowling ball vs. an anvil. This content is protected
with his speed and power and skill, clottey brings size and heat of an african warrior.if he cant when with that then oh well he was not suppose to win.
I love Pac but i do worry a little bit about this fight , Pac hasnt faced anyone anything like as strong as this before. However I think Pacs speed and accuracy will encourage joshua into the shell he likes to go into. If Clottey goes for 3 minutes of every round ( unlikekly I know ) pac could find himself in bother !
If we're talking about the whole head from the neck up, yup Manny takes it. But Clottey's dome looks really wicked, and that's the part of the head that is involved in butts.
