The first test when comparing Pacquiao's and Floyd's oppositions is this: why did Floyd Jr and Sr resort to accusing Pacquiao of unsubstantiated PED abuse after the Hatton/Cotto wins? It is simply because Pacquiao has made Floyd's career look like the fraud it really is. Pac's achievements stand in stark contrast to Floyd's cherrypicking ways, and no matter how the *****s argue to the contrary, there's only one rejoinder: Why do the Mayweathers accuse Pac? Isn't his own achievement enough to stand on its own, and he had to resort to tactics that try to tear down another fighter's achievements?
Worser* not worse. Floyd is also a defensive fighter. Floyd also KOed Hatton on his back foot. While Manny had to KO Hatton with what he called the harder punch he's ever thrown.
Hatton when he fought Mayweather weighed what he normally weighs at 140. Not like when he was against Collazo, coming in at 160. The only reason people said that was because no one expected DLH to WEIGH LESS than Pacquaio come fight time. Cotto better than anything? atsch Marquez was a tune up. You don't see anyone giving Mayweather tones of credit for this fight. Comparing them like BigReg did, you can see that Mayweather's last 5 > Pac's last 5.
EVER????? Even though cotto had to drop weight to fight? I would give more credit if he allowed the CHAMP to fight at his CHAMPIONSHIP WEIGHT. All of PAC's fights can be scrutinized just as Floyd's can. I give Floyd more credit in moving up because he fought the fighters on even fields...and he bowed down to whatever Oscar wanted.....the ONLY fighter he made come up was JMM and i do not consider that fight better than anything PAC has done but at the same time Floyd's OSCAR performance BETTER...why well hell floyd dint even get a tune up fight at a weight he never fought at and Oscar was no where near his prime but was a top dawg at 154 period.
Hatton's problem wasn't to do with his own weight, but his opponents. In both fights at 147lbs, he was outmuscled. At 140, even against Urango, he was the stronger man. By anything, I meant any single victory, which is true. Mayweather's best wins are Castillo, Corrales, Hatton, De La Hoya. None of these wins are as good as Pacquiao's over Cotto. Of course people give Mayweather credit. I see it every day on herebetween Mayweather and Pacquiao fans. Comparing them like Reg did would mean removing any logic and replacing it with bias, so I'd rather form my own opinion.
The 145lb limit was solely so the corrupt WBC could have a new title. Aside from that, Cotto agreed and has always maintained he felt great on fight night, so there is no reason to suggest it hindered his performance.
if mayweather beats mosley clearly while pac loses to or squeaks a decision over clottey, i'll have no qualms if they give the number 1 slot to mayweather. he fought a number 3 p4p guy while pac fought someone not even in the top 20. however, if mosley wins and pac wins, i don't think they should give the number 1 slot to mosley yet
I'm factoring in what they've done over the last couple of years. I don't think Mayweather can rightly be rated No. 1 on the weight of his accomplishments that took place so long ago when he was a different fighter. In the last few years he fought a 140 pounder (who he made move up) went even with him for 6 rounds before closing the show in the tenth, then he fought a 135 pounder (who he made move up) and won a lackadaisical 12 round decision and retired for a year and a half. Pacquiao has destroyed bigger fighters DLH, Cotto and Hatton, shot up weight-classes, grabbed several belts and excited the masses in the process.
Considering Floyd probably barely broke 150 what would of changed if the fight was at 140? Nothing. You are completely wrong. We watched Cotto be broken down by Margarito, chased around and nearly beaten down by Mosley. Rumbled and rocked by Torres. Nearly KOed by Corley. Oh, and also forced to fight at 145 not 147. Beating Cotto is not even close to being better than anything Mayweather has done. That statement is a clear bias. You have complete bias in your post. Cotto better than anything..
If it made no difference, why did negotiations stall so much over the weight? Why did Mayweather flat out refuse to drop the weight or meet in the middle as Hatton wanted? You said it made no difference, yet Floyd seems to disagree. Hatton never performed at 147, so it does make a difference. Are you doubting Cotto now? He beat Mosley clearly. He stopped Torres and Corley despite being incredibly weight drained. He was beaten by a guy who almost certainly cheated. What a bum. And, again, he said the extra two pounds made no difference. If he can accept that, why can't you? If anyone was looking to make an excuse, it would be him. Which single victory does Mayweather have, that is better than Pacquiao beating Cotto?
