Can someone give me a reason to care about any of these fights? This might be the worst undercard I've seen for a title fight in recent memory. Agree or disagree? Any of you guys gonna be there? As always, any and all comments are welcome. Thanks for participating.
Who's on the card again? I remember hearing Duddy's name, and Humberto Soto vs David Diaz. Cant remember the rest.
It's not the worst undercard in recent memory, not by a longshot. It's a better undercard than Pacquiao-Cotto or Pacquiao-De La Hoya, and it's WORLDS better than Calzaghe-Jones. That said, I wish it was better.
Soto v Diaz (LW) Gomez v Castillo(WW) Duddy v Medina(MW) In all fairness it should be noted that Soto and Diaz are fighting for a title but Castillo is WELL past his prime and is fighting an average blood and guts style fighter who was on the contender tv show. Duddy is fighting a nobody.
While this isn't the worst card ever conceived it isn't anything to be remotely proud of, sorta like a child that gets a grade of C, it could be much worse but you aren't hanging it up on the fridge. Out of the 4 fights most likely to be televised, the Soto-Diaz fight is okay, though neither guy really has made a strong impression on their division. The Duddy-Medina fight is a ****ing joke, another tomato can for Duddy to feast before a show down with Chavez Jr. I suppose. And the Gomez-Castillo fight really should never happen. Gomez is average at best and Castillo is fighting five years and two divisions north of his prime.
Castillo-Gomez should be a decent action fight as well. Duddy-Medina could also be a decent action fight if Medina can stay on his feet. They're just not important fights by any stretch.
