Nobody said he cant use those tactics, but what makes u think he will be better at those tactics than a man who's been using these tactics his entire career?

Its like saying that Couture can stand there and box with Toney as well. Yes he can, but it would be very stupid of him to do so, just as it would be very stupid of Toney to try and feed into Randy's strengths.

I love Toney, but his boxing style just doesn't transfer well to MMA. I can understand a power puncher going into the UFC and being able to knock somebody out, but James is a boxer, not a slugger or a brawler. He's a masterful counterpuncher, but that's not going to help him out. He's going to get tackled and rocked.

    This sucks.

Toney's dumb for going into MMA at all. He can't punch (I don't care if it's 4 oz gloves, he still can't punch), and if you take that away, then how the hell is he going to win? Plus, his style is horrible for MMA. Upper body movement with planted feet just leaves the lower body open for leg kicks or a takedown.

You know dog**** about MMA if you think Toney is at the same advantage as Lesnar was.
    A. Lesnar had a wrestling background, which is MUCH more valuable in MMA then boxing alone is.
    B. Lesnar is 6'3" over 265lbs of solid muscle
    C. Lesnar is in his physical prime
    D. Lesnar is one of, if not the most athletic fighter in the Heavyweight division
    E. Toney is 5'9" and Fat
    F. Toney has no answer for the other aspects of striking in MMA

  6. Dana White is constantly talking **** about Boxing...saying UFC is taking over the market and Boxing is a dying sport and all this nonsense.

I like the match up against Couture because its really a no lose situation for Toney and boxing. As stupid as it is, the casual fan will see this as boxing vs MMA, and while it doesn't mean much to either sport it will mean a lot to these casuals.

Couture is a 'legend', and while he is old he can still compete at a high level in MMA and he would not be a favorable match up for Toney style wise because he is a grappler with high level wrestling skills and Couture will game plan and take this seriously. If Couture wins, who cares? He is suppose to win. But if Toney wins it will destroy the ego of MMA fans.

If the lines are big enough I would bet on the underdog Toney...because Couture..especially now...has a GLASS chin and it will really take one punch to put him out.

The real embarrassment for boxing would be if somehow Kimbo faces and beats Toney, and the only reason he would even have a chance to do this is because Toney is a big enough idiot not to bother to train ANY ground game at all.

Lesnar punches like ****, he looks like he's beating a guy off with his terrible punching form when he's on top of his oppenent. Lesnar stamina is not that great in the UFC, his breathing is often times labored.

If Lesnar is the most athletic fighter at heavyweight, then I could really see why a guy who came out of the WWE was able to become champ in the UFC. Could you imagine someone coming out of the WWE becoming heavyweight champ? It would never happen. I think Butterbean proved that back in 98 when he knocked out the best boxer in the WWE in under minute.

Exactly what i've been trying to tell these fools who give Toney a chance. "He's a world class boxer, yo". First of all, he's not. He's a 41 year old, obese former middleweight who is now classed a heavyweight because of his beer belly and extra chins. Second, he barely got by Batchelder and a gift decision over Oquendo. He's not a world class boxer anymore!

And his style is completely wrong for MMA. A guy like Haye could have some success because he has that big punch, but Toney wasn't a hitter at supermiddleweight, at heavyweight he carries no pop at all. Even Rahman was walking through flush right hands asif it was nothing. Sure, bring up his stoppage over a geriatric, shoulder hurt Holyfield. And that was after 9 rounds of breaking his opponent down; if anyone thinks that is in any way useful under MMA rules then they're seriously deluded.

Seriously, it's sickening to see these Toney "fans" wanting him to do MMA. Sadistic *******s. I don't even like Toney that much, but i hope he never steps into the octagon, because he's going to be seriously hurt/embarrassed/etc. And to top it off, the MMA redneck crowd will say "see ya'll, the all time boxin' great lasted only 30 seconds in MMA!"

Id give a boxer that had great feet a shot at maybe landing a lucky shot before they were taken down. Toney aint that guy, this will be over inside 30 seconds.

I've learned from experienced to not underestimate really,REALLY intelligent athletes. James Toney is no different. Don't let age or appearance fool you, this guy is still dangerous...:bbb
