It don't matter if you can think of about 5 or 6, compare that to 1000s of boxers out there, its RARE. Stop being so ****ing closed-minded and face it, not many boxers are fighting at that level at the early stages of their careers.
Of his 20 fights, only 5 have been against fighters with winning records. He inexplicably fought Ernie Smith 3 times. At the time of the last fight Smith's record was 13-97-5. For his 18th - 20th fights, by comparison, Cotto fought Maussa, Sosa, and N'dou, all quite a few steps above the domestic UK competition.
Yea, and out of the 1000s of boxers out there most accomplish nothing of note. If you're saying Brook is ordinary you won't get any disagreement from me.
I think most boxers are ordinary until they prove otherwise. Look at manny for example. Who would of knew watching his first 20 or even 30 fights that he would become what he has today. Thats what you got to love about boxing, the stars can come from anywhere at any time.
Like they say, iron sharpens iron. His management will have to step up and get him some real competition before he goes stale. I got high hopes for him.
Have you ever thought the reason why he 'inexplicably' fought Ernie Smith 3 times was due to opponents pulling out against him? Plus UK fighters are rarely pushed into world level that fast (David Haye being a recent exception to that, and he promotes himself).
How am I being closed minded? You said: PLEASE go and find me a single fighter in the world that has fought a world class fighter in there first 20 or so fights! I just simply pointed out multiple fighters that have done what you said no one had done before. I personally don't believe he has to fight world class guys right now, but he has to very soon. You seem to be a little too upset dude.
It amazes me that people can so easily discredit British prospects these days. Granted we've had a few over the last few years that had no business at the elite level (Jennings and Lockett) but Kell Brook skill wise is at least five times the fighter that either of those two are. Ok so his resume lacks depth but he's worked to get that mandatory spot and has held the Lonsdale belt at a young age for some time now, he also recently won the British boxing writers award for young fighter of the year. He fully deserves a shot at the big time and I'm also quite sure he will come up with the goods. He throws a lot of crisp punches from a variety of awkward angles and looks the complete package.
For those that haven't seen him. He was fighting in the lion's den and McIntyre was seen as a good test for Brook: [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BZqTqCfX5fo[/ame]
I don't disagree. My point is that there is nothing in his resume, or that I've seen from watching him fight, that suggests that he is destined to be any more than ordinary. I am ASSUMING that he is ordinary until he proves otherwise because all evidence so far points in that direction.
Yeah I obviously over-looked the fact that of course there is going to be a few people that have, but my point is that its very rare. And I am not upset at all? I am actually not even a fan of Kell Brook, good luck to him and all, I hope he steps up a bit of competition soon. I just get annoyed at people who think boxers need to fight the best as soon you know their name.
Brook hasn't even fought anyone as good as Jennings yet. That's why no one cares to jump on his hype train. When he starts fighting competition that merits some consideration then he will get some. Until then he's just another in a sea of "prospects", most of whom will fade out without accomplishing anything.
Oh no to make it clear, as I said above I am not really a fan of Kell Brook, I haven't watched many of his fights, I am just against forcing these young guys into the world class ranks just for them to be knocked out and ruined before they have a fair chance to establish their names and all.
If theres one thing I don't like about Kell Brook, it has to be his voice, I know he can't help it but its still a pretty gay voice.
