Hatton deserves some respect and credit for what he has achieved. He did things the proper way by going the British title route and then gaining World Honours. Same like Calzaghe (although i think he is overrated, I respect his achievements), and to some extent Froch who obviously is still fighting. Amir Khan and all these overhyped upstarts have got alot of graft to do before achieving what this guy has. All of the top British fighters we have had have gained their British/European honours and then gone on to the World Stage. Thats how this thing should work, steady progression.
**** RICKY HATTON. He told people to bet their homes on his fight with Pacquiao and guaranteed victory and all he gave them was a Coma in the 2nd Round. LOL!! No respect for that guy. Sorry.
In a p4p fight, Hatton could knock out anyone here, including myself. Even if he's not the best in the world, he's still pretty far ahead of everyone else. He has a nice family, a hot gf, a lot of money and fans in the UK. No reason for him to feel shameful. I certainly don't feel sorry for him.
Yeah... Ricky Hatton got paid 12 million to take a nap in front of 17,000 at MGM Grand. Not a bad gig.
The Collazo fight was Hatton's immediately before his big money fight with Mayweather. There was talk that Collazo had to ko Hatton to win because winning a decision would have been next to impossible due to the money of the planned megafight involved.Quite frankly, that thinking may have credibilty due to the fact that many, including myself, felt that Collazo won as Hatton was beaten to the punch by light-hitting Collazo and was REALLY holding on for dear life in the end.If Collazo got that decision(rightfully,in my opinion),it's bye-bye Mayweather fight and the HUGE purse.
Actually,a lot of it is his own fault.Leading up to the Pac fight,Hatton was talking about himself in the 3rd person while he and his father were saying that once wee Rick beat Pac,Rick would be the #1 p4p fighter in the world.Confidence is one thing, but that was way over the top.Basically,he overrated himself. How about getting the victory first, then presenting your case. Not Ricky. Then he calls on his supporters to bet the house on his upcoming "success" against Pac?I kind of feel for any of his supporters that took that bet based on his words.Kind of.
