Tecate started doing that **** well before Floyd/Marquez because it's good advertising for them. They did it for Marquez/Casa, Pac/DLH, Pac/Hatton, Pac/Cotto...

They signed a sponsorship deal with GBP in 2006. They get major billing in those fights so it makes sense to get more eyes on them, and in the process they also sell a 12 pack.

Entertainment purchases are generally pretty recession-proof anyway. The movie and music industries have done fine and subscription channels like HBO have increased subscribership during the recession.
