I'd rather see Bradley & Alexander Clean-out 140 Division first, then Fight?

After Alexander "Did his Thing" against Urango, he stated in the Interview that he has no problem in fighting The Top 140lbs Fighter (in many people's opinion) Timothy Bradley as well as fighting Zab Judah.

But my question is WHY? Alexander is 23 years old and Bradley is 26. There is no need to rush this fight. Although the fight would be a great fight...It really wouldn't be considered a Mega-Fight until each fighter has spent a considerable amount of time DOMINATING the division first.

Example: Gamboa and Juanma have been on a collision course for over a year and a half now. But they still haven't fought yet. And there is no real excuse because there under the same umbrella (Aurm / Top Rank). Juanma has gone through Penalosa, Lontchi, Mtagwa and Luevano and Gamboa has destroyed Rojas, Garcia, Mtagwa and is fighting an undefeated fighter later this month...And its All BUILDING THEIR SOON-TO-BE MEGA-FIGHT.

Does anyone remember Mayweather and Corrales emptying 130lbs out first before their fight back in 2001?

This is all I want to see:
Alexander Fights Judah, Ortiz, Maidana vs Cayo Winner - Bradley Fights Khan, JMM, Mike Alverado. And who knows, there are several really good 135lbs fighter talking about moving up. Imagine Funeka vs Bradley or Valero vs Alexander. Or even Pacquiao vs Alexander.

Then Summer of 2011...Alexander vs Bradley. I just don't want them to fight NOW!!!

I agree. They should let this one heat up for another year and a half or two years.

i say let them fight ASAP. there are no guarantee's that they win against future opponents, whether they be tune-ups or legitamate fights. everyone knows there are guarantees in the sport of boxing (remember tyson vs douglas). any fighter can have a bad or good night for that matter. and lets face it, if either of these fighters lose to another fighter considered to be 'not as good' as the fighter their slated to fight in the future, their stock falls and the 'BIG' fight becomes less appealing. sure the fight will still make money, but depending on how the fight turns out, a flood of excuses will follow as to why fighter X lost, and if only the fighters met in their "Prime" the outcome could've been different. thats just my opinion.

Bradley-Alexander is a terrific fight. I don't mind if it takes another fight or two until they meet but not too long. A lot can happen from upsets, moving up in weight, or simply going down different paths. This fight should happen this year or maybe early next year at the latest, I'd hate to see this fight never happens because it took too long to make.

Hell no. Let them fight now. They are both now physically in their prime and would make for an awesome fight.

I dont like fights being set up for later on because one guy might start slipping in a matter of months. This is boxing and you can never tell what punch is going to start the downslide.

I'm tired of all this waiting bull****. I remember back in 2004 you had a 27 year old, undefeated Mayweather and a 23 year old undefeated Cotto fighting at 140. Arum said it would be a modern day Leonard vs. Duran. However, he said that that the fight needed to be built up. Well, eventually Mayweather got tired of waiting and went to 147, he and Arum eventually split and the fight never happened. You never know what's going to happen in this sport. Strike while the iron is hot. These two should fight eachother soon and a new star will be born. The loser will have plenty of time to build himself back up.

sounds more like you want to protect either Bradely or Alexander from the other.

their ages dont matter, they are both well established. Leonard was 25 and Hearns was 23 when they fought.

But Leonard and Hearns were household names before they fought (or at least Leonard was). Only hardcore fans know who Bradley and Alexander are.

aren't you the same guy who just threw a massive hissy fit because Roach said he wants to do exactly what you're suggesting with Khan and Bradley?

and aren't you the guy who's always complaining about double-standards?

    :rofl

Bradley and alexander are number one and two in the division. Three belts - great if they fight.

I think Khan is better than the pair of them, but only he has other issues to settle - Prescott and Maidana. At the moment, he can not be considered worthy of his shot against the champ (Bradley) and number one contender (Alexander).

these guys have no baggage, though Nate Campbell might have a very slight argument. So it means that the only score to settle is who is the real champ.

great guys if they dare to go for it.

Absolutely. The only time this argument should be made is if there are two fighters of the same nationality with real chances at elite - don't match em for a national/continental title when it could be a world belt (thinking Khan/Mitchell here).

Heres my problem with all of this

    So weve got

Devon - his people and fans want to see wait a bit before he fights bradley

Khan - his people and fans want to see wait a bit before he fights bradley

Ortiz - his people are going to build him back up before he gets the big fights

I totally understand letting all three of these guys get a few more fights and build their name a bit more but when you have so many people wanting to 'wait' instead of fight it makes an exciting, explosive division into a mediocre one.

    IMO

However its too early to jump the gun... i think they are all progressing nicely and i have no problem with Alexander fighting a few more fights before he fights Bradley, but id like to see it sooner rather then later, preferably after two or three more fights should they both stay undefeated.
