True, about the clinches... BUt I'm still not sold on Pavlik's speed. That said, I defo think this fight ends before 12rds.
(So my initial thread is out the window...lol, Unless it goes 12)

Pavlik is a pretty limited fighter, and Martinez has the skill set to beat him and do so fairly easy. I think the only question about this fight is IF Martinez can withstand the power of Pavlik. If the answer to that question is yes then Martinez will win somewhere in the range of 116-112. If not then he will be stopped, its really that simple. Using the fight with Williams isnt a good gauge of what a fight with Pavlik will be like. Williams is a much more active fighter then Pavlik. So that allowed him to make up the gap in talent and skill. Pavlik has the power advantage, but as we have seen many times in the past an active fighter is more likely to over come then a powerpuncher when facing a more skilled fighter.

I personally dont think that Martinez will stand up to Pavlik. I think that he will be winning the fight in almost a shutout when pavlik will land something that will change the fight and lead to a knockout win, somewhere in the mid to late rounds.

Punch stats for Pavlik's last fight and Williams' isn't all that different. Kelly did start slower, but that is to be expected.

I guess the talent level of the fighters play no role in those numbers in your world. Why dont you dig up the numbers from the Hopkins fight and then tell us that they arent any different.

This was in response to the 'pressure' comment.

I've just watched the Williams/Martinez fight a couple of times. Paul made it way to easy for Sergio so everyone is hanging on Sergio's nuts now about how brilliant a fighter he is. Look for him to be less brilliant when he fights Kelly. As a matter of fact, you can watch him grow dimmer until he blacks out. Yeah, I take talent into account.

Martinez has to prove he has better stamina than he showed against PW.
If he does then he wins this otherwise he is screwed.

Oh here we go. I'll remember this idiotic thread when the fight is over and Sergio is slumped over in the corner. Of course though u will be missing kinda like Paul is now against, first sergios rematch then pavlik and now he won't even sign the cintron papers. Get your jabs in now because after the fight u will be MIA just like your hero Paul.

Martinez isn't going to out box Pavlik. In order to win 7 rounds against a workman type fighter like Pavlik, Sergio has to engage. If he tries to engage enough to win 7 rounds, he'll get knocked out. If he refuses to engage, he'll lose a wide UD.
