martinez shouldn't be the underdog and williams isn't ducking pav

I watched the fight again last night. If I were a Paul Williams fan I'd have real trouble doing that. I did see a lot of what you pointed out though. Watching Kelly's and Sergio's last fights back to back isn't real helpful in gaging the upcoming fight though. Two very different styles. But it took Williams how many rounds to start wearing Martinez down and catching up with him? Round two and into three I don't think Williams was really fully recovered and Sergio still couldn't put him away and was wearing down. I was actually more nervous going into the Espinio fight because I knew nothing about him.

The fact is Kelly could be a ruined fighter.

After the humiliation against Hopkins I don't think he can be the same again.

He's only beaten up ham and eggers since so no one knows.

I think Martinez wins but gets jobbed.

 

A lot of people seem to forget Kelly Pavlik is not some crude brawler. He has a style he has developed gradually over a period of about 18 years. KP won his first National Championship the same year Martinez started boxing. The experience difference between Kelly and Sergio is huge and very obvious. I guess not everyone has "eyes to see." Loads of people grossly under-rate KP's boxing ability, and over-rate Sergio's.

Dude. I've watched Sergio's last fight a couple of times over the past few days. I probably have his fight with Cintron on my computer somewhere and am going to try and find it to watch. I'm not basing my conclusions on something I don't see. I've been to Kelly's last two fights since they were in town. I've probably watched 7 or 8 fights this week. I've never boxed and don't pretend to give that level of analysis, but some of this stuff is not rocket science. I wouldn't say something if I didn't have reason to believe it.

Watch Sergio's fight with Williams and tell me Williams' didn't go out of his way to make Sergio look good. Bending over at the waste, lunging in with punches just begging to be countered. Paul's best boxing asset is his damned chin. He could make ME look slick FFS.

If Kelly tagged Paul like Sergio was tagging him, this fight wouldn't have gone 3 rounds. So yeah, I misspoke, his chin is only good from 154 down.....

 

Have you got your ticket yet? Damn I hope it sells out, last time Kelly couldn't even sell 3k in his home town, so Arum banned the bars from showing it - a disgrace.
