I'm sorry but Cotto is not the warrior fans make him out to be.

You don't think you're enlightening me, do you?? There are 80 year old grandmothers tougher than some of these pro fighters, bud. You should expand your awareness. Reality is more complex.

One wont find me blasting fighters that quit, i hold them seperate to fighters willing to give everything to win or go out on their shield but i dont blast fighters for quitting, they are people with lives and families as well.

however, just imo, Ortiz quit with a lot of fight left to be fought, Cotto quit against Margarito when he had nothing left at all, and was taking nothing but a horrendus, horrendus beating against a big fighter and was being completely carved and constantly beaten down.

IMO there has to some sort of context, not every quit is the same, imo.

Ortiz was down twice in the fight and had a really nasty cut over his eye that made it nearly impossible to see out of that eye. He was also a young kid suffering the first real beating of his career, and his corner had threatened to stop it for him at the end of the fifth because of the punishment he was taking. Why is it fair game to question his choice to live to fight another day, but not Cotto's? Cotto was a champion in his prime, Ortiz was a prospect on the end of a bad night. Which do you expect more maturity from?

And again, that doesn't address Cotto mentally cashing out in the Pacquiao fight against a SMALLER fighter.

I agree with you that it's a fighter's choice to decide when he's had enough, and I don't begrudge any fighter the right to make that choice. It's their health. My problem is specifically with why some guys, like Cotto, get a pass from the fans and others do not.

Of course there are pro fighters that aren't very tough. That's exactly what this thread is about, right? I don't think you even had a point here.

You said that Cotto is tougher than 90% of the population. I said that he gets paid to be tough. It's literally part of his job.

From there you jumped to some bull**** about grandmothers and whatnot. As if that was relevant. The point, which you missed, isn't whether Cotto is tougher than a pipe fitter or a tax attorney, it's whether he's tougher than most other boxers. Given that he has, quite often, elected to run or take a knee to avoid getting knocked out, I'd say that he may not be.

But you can keep talking about grandmothers if that's what gets you off. I won't judge.

The world of boxing needs more Cotto-type boxers. He fights everyone, puts on excellent bouts, and gives it his all. WTF more can anyone ask for of a fighter? Threads like this are started by children and supported by trolls. And it's those assholes who try to act like THEY are the enlightened and knowledgeable boxing fans. ****in pathetic.
