I'm sorry but Cotto is not the warrior fans make him out to be.

Is it so pathetic because it doesn't speak so highly of the precious Cotto???

I don't particularly agree with everything said about Cotto, but ****.. just because you don't see it his way doesn't make this thread pathetic.

What do you suggest be done about it? Screen posters to see if they respect Cotto enough?

He did that after taking a pretty good beating while still dishing it out. Once vs. the top WW at the time, once vs. the top P4P fighter. So?

And what makes the Clottey fight bigger then the Judah fight? Or Malignaggi? Or Quintana? I guess it just makes it more convenient to pick and choose what's "big" right? He stood his ground for most of those fights dishing a beating that might beat lesser boxers.

Cotto is a beast. I would definitely pony up to watch him beat your ass senseless.

What a ridiculous assertion? Where did I ever claim that you HAVE to be a professional fighter to have mental fortitude? Please point me to that statement. Be careful here, because there is some directional logic going on that you're missing.

My post contains a direct quote from Cotto on his decision to put a knee down to spare his own health. I think it's pretty hard to mis-represent a direct quote. He quit for his own safety. I absolutely mean it when I say that there is no shame in that, but it's not quite a warrior mentality.

He ran like hell against Clottey, but everyone seems to think it was great Ring Generalship...

He low-blowed the **** out of Judah, but everyone seems to be OK with it.

I ain't saying he's a bad fighter, but he has so many avid, loyal fans (more than anyone on this board, that he gets overrated, and his faults get overlooked and forgotten.

That's not even it. It's one thing to be critical...it's another to be disrespectful. Say what you will about me, I don't **** on fighters or create threads just to do the same. Hell, even with Mayweather. I may talk **** about his fans, or blast him because he says stupid things that contradict other **** he's said. But I don't insult him just becuase I'm a gibber fan of other fighters. that's the MO of the guys I named.

    HERE:

"Mental fortitude" was mine, just so we're clear. No back door to escape from there.

Nobody's blaming you for leaving knee prints at your job - so why don't you log off until you learn to show some respect for these fighters that get in the ring and risk life and death for our entertainment?

Piece of advice NBA...quit using the word EVERYONE. It's almost pointless saying anything to people who say "Everyone said....", since that's NEVER the case.

The low blows have been discussed to death. Cotto attacks the body...it happens. If you want to believe he did it on purpose, go ahead. But that's not even the topic here.

And if you are going to make a big deal of his fans, then don't blow a gasket when people sat Williams is overrated. At least Cotto's beaten a bunch of ranked fighters.

But I see a distinct pattern...

Someone makes a thread about Floyd and no one, except his fanboys, wants to take the moral highground and say "let's not insult the guy personally" blah blah blah...

But as soon as someone talks about Cotto, people get all emotional and want to talk about "get in the ring yourself" and "If you aren't a fan of him then you aren't a fan of boxing" and nonsense like that.

As I have said before. I'm pretty-much over the Cotto-hate (although it does flair up a bit every now and then). I have moved on from the fact that he will never be allowed in the ring with PW. Not over Arum's dead body.

Only because Cotto has had the opportunity to fight them... He's a cash cow. He's a draw. But that doesn't make him a better fighter. Shane fought him but blatantly said no to Paul. The list goes on.
