I'm sorry but Cotto is not the warrior fans make him out to be.

How is that more then what Judah did? Judah at least KO'd Corey Spinks to win thr WW title.

And so what if he FOUGHT Margarito. He lost. Just like he lost to Cotto.

As for Paulie...he spends more time running then Cotto does...yet HE'S a warrior becuase Cotto beat the **** outta him? :huh

And no, I didn't say he broke Mosley down. We'll get along fine if you don't twist my words. My comment was more the line of "WTF does that have to do with anything." So he didn't break him down.. Big deal.

As I said before, Cotto took a beating in those fights. Was he in trouble? Are you serious? He looked like ****in Hellraiser in those bouts from all the blood.

Words have meanings. If Cotto is a warrior then most professional boxers who have any career longevity are warriors because if you're not the absolute cream of the crop you generally end up against someone who beats the sense out of you.

I get the sense, though, that people who use the word warrior don't mean in the general sense that all professional boxers are tough guys who can take a beating.

Now having experienced your epic beating, as you put it, did you look like Cotto in his fight with Margo or Pac?

Because if you didn't then where do you get off not calling this man a warrior. Sure you may not get paid for it, but honestly, when you're fighting in there...ARE YOU THINKING ABOUT MONEY?! :huh:nut No...you're just as human as he...and the man put on the best show he can provide.

It's probably because he's proven to be a warrior more then the OP has disproven it.

But anyway....all this "warrior" talk is ****in stupid. ALL the boxers get in the ring to beat the **** out of the other guy. To render his opponent unconscious while taking 200+ hits themselves. This is a little kids debate I should have steered clear of. Should have known better. But sadly, this is what qualifies as a boxing discussion nowadays.

Clottey beat Judah. That's what he did to prove he was better than Judah.

And Malignaggi took a HELLACIOUS beating off of Cotto and did not take a knee to end it.

Many boxers take beatings. They don't all drop to a knee or sprint from corner to corner of the ring though.

It's actually a waste of time to discuss this with you. You want to have some flimsy definition of Warrior...more power to ya.

Chavez?!...The same guy who's quit on his stool as many times as Cotto took a knee?

Yea. I guess it's okay to sit it out on your stool than go for it in the squared circle and quit on your knee...or maybe it's the same difference.

Gatti? The same guy who shelled up and did nothing against Floyd. Or when he got on his bike against Baldomir?

Mosley? The guy who was on his bike against Mayorga? Ran many rounds against Vargas too?

HAGLER?! The man who was far too tenative against SRL the SMALLER MAN?! OR EVEN DURAN?!

Yea...whatever man. All these guys showed a small case of weakness, we're all human, but none of them backed down from a challenge.

Of course Miguel Cotto is tougher than me. Where did I ever claim he wasn't? He's a professional boxer, I'm just some guy on the internet that picked up boxing for fun far too late to ever be very good at it. But why the **** would I hold myself to the same standard as Miguel Cotto? I don't give my doctor a pass because he knows more about medicine than me.

And yea, I've been beaten about as bad as Cotto in those fights, though not in sparring, obviously. I had my jaw wired shut for a couple of months and spend a weekend in the hospital. It royally sucks. I'm not sure how it's at all relevant, but you asked.

So you're saying Cotto is more of a warior than Hagler?

    To each his own man.

Because he is a warrior. Maybe not in the same breathe as the Gatti's and Vargas' of boxing...but certainly in the same conversation.

What's your definition of warrior? In my experience, when boxing fans use the word they mean someone who has no quit in them. The go out on their shield sort. Obviously not everyone means the same thing when they say it though, so tell me what you mean.
