".....It is great to be fighting in Berlin again. This is where I defeated Eddie
Chambers to become the IBF´s mandatory challenger so I am keen to continue where I left it.”

Usually winning the mandatory spot means the next fight is for the title :huh
However its more than 2 years since Povetkin beat Chambers to win
mandatory against Wladimir, since then he fought already 3 stay busy
fights with limited competition and he is 'keen to continue this' ....
with Mora ... so what is wrong with this guy?

Why is he not challenging Vitaly for example .... since Wlad is busy
with his former victim from 2 years back ... fast Eddie?

Povetkin tore his achilles training for Wlad when he beat Chambers and I believe Rahman stepped in, and Potetkin has slowly, but surely made his way back up the top again.

Maybe he doesn't want to fight Wlad and thinks he's got a better shot if he gets in line by the WBA or the vacant WBC strap when Vitali quits this year...

Povetkin is an IBF pretender for about 2 years and he did nothing to face Wlad. Fast Eddie , Russian's victim form IBF eliminator has now a title shot.

Probably Atlas and Sasha are aware of Povetkin's lacks and they try to avoid Klits how long they can.

But time goes by and I think that sooner or later Povetkin vs Wlad must be done!!!!!!!

Povetkin is very proud. He knows the fight with Wlad is difficult. He doesn't want to risk his undefeated record

It was a good choice to gain more experience otherwise he should have fought the champ with only like 15 fights boxed... he is no Leon Spinks you know

He had an injury back in october 2008 when preparing for Wlad. The fight against Wlad was on before the injury for december 13th 2008.

After that the IBF gave him the right to face Klitschko until september 13th 2009, but after his injury and the change of his trainer he wanted a few more fights to get in good shape.

I hope Atlas and Povetkin are ready in late 2010 or early 2011 and that he fights another top-contender in summer, before negotiating with the Klitschkos.

The injury is why it didn't go down initially. Since then i do believe that he has been hesitating a bit because he knew he waqsn't ready. I think he views the Klitschko fight as the only thing that really matters and his only goal is winning that fight.

He realize that his lack of headmovement and footwork, coming straight in, would get him killed & he seems to have improved these aspect of his game.

Here he is giving a little workout before his upcoming fight this weekend. Watch from 2:30 on, it's good to see

I for one can't wait for this fight and i hope they hold it in Ukraine or Russia rather than Germany or the US.

I'm looking forward to this one, or any of the below:

    Wlad vs. Povetkin

    Vitali vs. Valuev

    Haye vs. either Klit

    Tua or Povetkin vs. Helenius

    Any fight involving

    Adamek
    Povetkin
    Boytsov
    Haye

    would be amazing.

I still think that Adamek vs Povetkin is the most exciting fight that can be made. I hope that happens somehow.

    Nice.

Can't fault a man for realizing weaknesses and trying to correct them.

    Always liked Povetkin.
