at 135? based on this fight..it would look like Pac JMM I, first round.

I'd give the advantage to Arguello at the lower weights, its a no brainer at the upper weight even though Arguello fought Pryor.

holy **** this guy fights like Pac. The way he punches to the body and to the top, the swings look identical. Even his jab looks the same. Oh yea, there's the haircut too!

He obviously doesnt have the same athleticsm though.

Havent seen much of Arguello have ya then...he made slow starts like this regularly.

Your gonna base your opinion on 1 round? I can give you whole fights that make me think Arguello would have bashed Pac..whilst taking his fair share of punishment first of course.

I guess the guy has a point. No disrespect for a legend like Alexis Arguello, but I also think Pacquiao's power will be too much for him even on this weight he fought in this video. IMO with Manny Pacquiao's speed and quickness, Alexis will be a standing target, unless Arguello uses his height and reach to get himself always at bay with Pacquiao's different angle attacks. But still with Pacquiao's active and pressure style from first round to finish will sure make Arguello wear out. Even if it will go for 15 rounds. Pacquiao later rounds KO.

As Rock said, Arguello was always a slow starter. However, he wasn't a guy that was easy to put out in the early rounds because to it. On the contrary, if the opponent forced the initiative early on, Arguello would find his timing and range quicker than he would were he facing a negating style fighter. His weakness was the fleet-footed pure boxers, or fighters who took that approach and applied it well. This was due to his methodical approach and at times plodding, but always well balanced, footwork. Even then it wasn't much of a weakness, as he almost always found his timing down the stretch, resulting in a knockout in his favor. All it meant was that he was capable of losing some early rounds in order to get into his groove. No fighter would be knocking him out early, and if they tried it's more than likely they'd end up getting stopped by the mid rounds, as the above fight shows.

What people often underrate about Arguello (at least on General, as most haven't watched more than a few snippets of a few fights) was his body-punching. His uppercuts to the midsection were devastating, and were often what allowed him to slow his opponent down for the later rounds when he usually found his touch. People seem to think Manny is the foil for Arguello, I see it the other way around. Would be a barn-burner for about the first half of the fight, though, with Manny likely taking most of the early rounds.
