That's the first time I watched Alexis Arguello, and I'll definitely agree with the few people that say Pac beats him. I mean this freakin guy is like a slower, less hard hitting, less athletic, less of a chin version of Pac. Pac does everything better than Gannigan! and Gannigan got a KD in 1st round, and did decent til the 5th.
Pac would have tore Arguello apart (at least in what I seen in the video). He would have done better the 1st round (probably more than 1 kd), and Arguello wouldn't have got the chance to land that many big punches to a stationary Pac...Because Pac isn't stationary. Arguello hits hard, and good body work though to finish things up, but I wasn't all that impressed...
Sorry if anybody feels like I disrespected there favorite legend...We all know anybody who has died, or retired for more than 20 years *WOULD HAVE* beaten anybody, at any weight...Depending on your love for them (your love is what gives legends there secret powers ;) ), BUT some people do have other views.

You're underrating Gannigan. Gannigan was a really good fighter. He just couldn't hang with a legend like Arguello. The kid was really exciting. I believe he also fought Wilfredo Gomez.

Looks are deceiving he took Marquez down 3 times in one round and got a draw.

Perhaps i am, but i'm just judging that video. Pac, and Gannigan are *similar* in styles, but pac is better at everything from what I saw from the video. Yeah, Gannigan seemed good, and did alright, but Pac seems better in every way. At least to me....
Maybe the Pac that fought JMM might lose to Arguello (he was tecnically flawed), but the Pac of today, or the last 4 fights...I wouldn't bet against him.

    wow!!!
if erik morales could beat him when he wasn't as good as he once was with the jab don't you think one of the top fighters at that weight would be able to do the same thing, especially since he had a better jab? we aren't talking about the pac today, the pac at one thirty five. the very one dimensional pac. people act like he was super human at 135.

GAnigan the "HAWAIIN punch" too bad he had no chin..Pacquiao is alot faster than this kid. Arguello was taller than everyone at this weight but he goes down vs Pac early IMO.
Because ARGUELLO does not have a chin like Morales and Marquez DID.Another Hawaiin punch. This Hawaiin punch was before Ganigan hawaiin punch.

That was a great fight. Gannigan had serious power, more than Pac. but not as sneaky with it. Arguello vs Pac. would have been incredible, afterall Arguello went 14 rounds with Pryor who was similar to Pac. in power and workrate, but I doubt Pac. would be able to stand up to Arguello if he got hit the way Pryor got hit. I can't pick a winner. BTW, I've watched this fight a number of times but never appreciated his jab against Gannigan. The jab was amazing that night, rocked the guy with it

Ganigan is the sh*t. You should see his fight with Sean O'Grady. He sparked his ass.

You view is based on one fight, a fight where Arguello was in his 20th title bout and his 14th year as a pro.

Other peoples views are based on the many fights people have seen of both.

If by watching all the possible Arguello fights you can you still believe Pac would beat him fine but dont expect your opinion holds any weight when you are basing it on one bloody fight.

Maybe the hardest puncher in philboxing history? I still think Villaflor KO'es are hilarious. Those japones need an oscar award for collapsing it didn't look like a devastating hawaiin punch, wtf was that all about? Wasn't Navarette a hawaiin punch too?So was Ganigan and Viloria. There some perty good Filo boxers from Hawaii in that time.
