Hearns of the Andries match vs. the Calzaghe that out-pointed Roy Jones. 12 rounds.

I pick Calzaghe by decision, if his chin can evade Tommy's right hand.

At LHW I'd go for Calzaghe on points. At Super-Middle,Hearns would have a chance.

    Hearns all day long !!!
Calz pressure would be his undoing ....straight right hands as he rushes in

I'd back Hearns. Calzaghe doesn't have a punch at lhw, and Hearns is in a different stratosphere to Calzaghe in terms of boxing skills.

iran barkley, hagler, roldan, leonard later on in the fight etc. pressure is hearns weakness.

precise pressure is what makes hearns long reach, sharp power and low hands become disadvantages.hearns also isnt a great counterpuncher. fantastic one shot power in both hands and great on the outside. calzaghe's herky jerky counter-combinations style while also in southpaw stance should throw hearns off i feel.

and hearns size isnt as pronounced even against calzaghe.

    my personal opinions.

Bear in mind that the lhw Calzaghe couldn't even drop Roy Jones's corpse despite landing hundreds of clean shots. The same Jones who was poleaxed by Tarver and Johnson, and blitzed in a round by Danny Green.

and you cant forget that calzaghe was the one who tasted canvas. by both hopkins and jones. two of which dont have the type of power hearns posses.

Nonsense. Jones knocked out Hill with one punch, Hearns earned a hard - fought decision against Hill. Hearns was a great puncher at 147 but above 160, his power was good but far from great. Calzaghe got knocked down sometimes due to his style and being off - balance a lot. He also always got upby the count ot two and retalliated with pure pressure right away.

Hearns was a great fighter but vulnerable to iron - chinned, determined pressure fighters. Calzaghe certainly wouldn't be KO'd by SRL, would go the distance in a tough fight with Hagler and would beat Barkley 10 out of 10 times.

to those talking about how calzaghe could not stop roy
are forgetting that this was not calzaghe in his prime with healthy
    hands,

    which forced him to slap

jones power was very good at mw, but as he moved up, he wasnt as pronounced while hearns power translated through several divisions. can you conceive jones rocking hagler the way hearns did? and you consider calzaghe to be iron chinned? based on what?

Not true, he always slapped as a young prospect, he did slap worse at that stage though

    This is how i feel...

You're american and never watched early Calzaghe fights. He was a dangerous puncher. Relentless and somewhat reckless, you could actually call him a brawler in his youth, he was very heavy handed and quite large at the weight. His hands were ****ed by the time you would've seen him on television and his style had matured.

Secondly, you're american again and a boarderline black panther, beating hopkins and roy jones i'd guess really upset you, i dont think your opinion in this post is worth anything.
