I've heard so many different "confirmed opponents" over the past few weeks that I doubt even Choc knows who'll be facing in his next bout.

Everything from fighting Felix Sturm or even Gennady Golovkin for the WBA middleweight title to featuring on the Mayweather v Mosley undercard v Daniel Jacobs.

I also heard that he'd be fighting Marco Antonio Rubio, Kelly Pavlik, Daniel Geale and Julio Chavez Jr.............

While I've got no doubt that Mundine has directed Khoder Nasser to line up a quality opponent, my feelings are that these conflicting rumors are nothing more than a reflection of their failure to work through negotiations and seal a deal.

The simple fact is that they will have to forget about the $$$$ if they want a top class opponent although that shouldn't be an issue this late in his career.

Unfortunately, by the time he gets his moment in the sun he may have lost that essential few percent required to compete at the top level. It would be no surprise to see a younger, hungrier, undefeated contender like Golovkin send Mundine into retirement and he'd have no one to blame but himself.

Good post mate....I can add 3 or 4 names to that list as well...and Pirog was just thrown in an hour ago.....I thing that does ring true is Mundine fighting the guy ranked 15 in the WBA :deal

this is the kid of **** sending boxing fans away :-( a guy ranked 15th gets to fight for a world title against another contender for a vacant title made available because the real title holder gets elevated to super champion :dead

Firstly Sturm has decided not to fight his mandatory under universum....so he has a legal battle.

The WBA will strip him so its only faiR the number 1 ranked fighter gets first shot :deal

Wba rules state that a vacant title must be fought with 2 contenders in the top 15.

Dont underestimate Pirog....this is no easy fight...he won every round against Kofi Jantuah...who KO'ed Marco Antonio Rubio round 1 :adminand has 2 world title fights against AA and Kassim Ouma

I would rather Mundine fight Geale again as he's number 14....at least fighting Geale hes knows he wont get KTFO :deal

Geale v Mundine is the logical, sensible match-up and that's probably reason enough that it won't happen!!

Would you say a match-up with the 15th ranked (for example) is stepping up??

Seemed to be very evenly matched with Geale first time around - evenly enough that the second time didn't happen!

Had lunch with the guys at the grange last week. Because of the close scoring of the fight the Geale camp want a rematch. The problem is so does Danny Green Rob Medley and everybody else choc fights. The guy Pirog that has been mentioned is not fighting. Chocs next fight will be announced shortly. And he is stepping up. But Im sure it wont make everybody happy.

  14. I would like to see Geale v Mundine for Geales sake. Although looking like a sheep rooter, the man can fight and has a future imo, he deserves and would benefit with Mundines name under his belt.
