The Polish dude is much easier to sell tickets with (in Germany) than a 41 year old 5"9 James Toney.

 

toney is a cheat... and pasted his prime.. the polish fighter is atleast a real heavyweight.

 

toney is way to old and fat right now, he would never get in shape for the fight, and it would be a boring fight, because vitali won't knock toney out, because toney would only survive, we would have vitali against kevin johnson again. sosnowski is not worth to fight for the world champion belt, but i think vitali wants a nice fast ko, so he took sosnowski.
and right now, even sosnowski is better than toney.

You didn't read the articles properly. RTL were INITIALLY interested, then much less enthused about Toney after they saw how appalled viewers were after Vitali's onesided beatdown of Johnson.

Trust me, it is very hard to sell a 41 year old, 5"9 ex-middle weight champ to challenge Vitali for the WBC belt.

I read on a German forum that K2 found a Polish promoter that guaranteed to sell 10,000 tickets just to Polish fans. That's something. But what would Toney bring to the table? Nothing:

* Toney holds no belts
* Toney holds very little fame at this point, Vitali gains nothing from beating him (just like the Polish dude)
* Toney wouldn't bring the interest of HBO or any other US TV station that would generate additional income
* Toney would bring very few to zero (US) fans to the fight, again generating no extra income for the fight

So why Toney? I don't get it. Actually, to the rational observer Toney makes no sense whatsoever. Neither from a boxing nor from a business point of view. At least that Polish bum will generate some Polish ticket sales.

 

Here's a direct comparison for the fight poster. Again, who would generate more attention to the casual box fan who is thinking to dish out 50 EUR to pay for a ticket in Europe?

Eddie Chambers is not going to be televised in the US, not even on ESPN. Think about it the cream of the crop of US HW boxing can't stir up any interest by the TV networks. And you're telling us Toney has HBO support? Please. This is not 2005 anymore, when Toney had some pulling power.

The sad truth is: HBO has zero interest in Toney. Neither do other US stations. Toney wouldn't generate a single dollar in US TV income if Vitali fought him.

 

:deal Basically, JT hasn't done **** as a HW. At this point, all he has left are his insults. And this time, only some obscure boxing websites are listening. Quite sad.

 

A fight with Toney would be a joke, plus, Toney would get knocked out and badly hurt. I would give toney zero chance, period.
