----------------------------------------------------------- I have a couple of questions. A> Does he have any plans to see a sports psychologist to iron out any potential mental scars he may have or tendancy to panic. B> How much has he been focusing on his inside game. c> Will he go after Sturm/ZBIK/Sylvester or Pavlik. d> Will he be fighting another top 20 rated opponent this year? e> Has he any desire to try out a new trainer Obviously you may not be able to ask all of them but appreciate any you can. Lee is the real deal he just had a bad day at the office and a little bit of bad luck but I'm convinced he has the potential to give any 160 fighter out there a taste of the canvass.
God almighty Bambam kid, where did this rant come from. Don't be so despondent. Things will improve again, trust me and have faith, one canceled show isn't the end of the world. That's look at the positive news, there are going to be three shows in Belfast before the end of June. Frank Warren should be promoting Magee [in May] in a defence of his title, McCloskey will be defending his title[ start of June], and team Allio are running a show in The Holiday Inn on the 8th May. Peters is running a show mid-April, most likely at The Stadium, and I hear he will be running another show for definite in September. And then there's Andy Lee who is bound to get a fight in Limerick some time in the summer. Assuming Martin Lindsay wins next week, his next contest will be in Belfast, he has stated this on more than one occasion, and big Rogie is due back around July in a challenge for the Irish title, and who knows by the autumn he could be fighting Audley for the European title. I could go on here but I hope you get drift and stop being such a doomer. Obviously you have plans to fight for a world title at some point in the future. How many fights away do you think it would be before it is a reality? With so many promising prospects in the division right now, with the likes of Golovkin, Macklin, Pirog, N'Jikam close to stepping up on the world stage, it will certainly be one of the strongest divisions. Other than yourself, who do you think will be a top fighter in the division in the coming years. Is Gamache going to be your trainer permanently. What do you find better/worse/different about having him in your corner? And finally, I can't resist asking, Mayweather or Pac, who wins and why?
Nothing to do with doom and gloom. We just need more pragmatism when it comes to running shows down this part of the country. It's not an easy fix but its not impossible either. The problem is the cards need to be high quality and an affordable price with good financial backing. Now, with things as they are, thats a hard combination to find. Thats nothing but reality. I've no worries about boxing up your neck of the woods. I think you could run a show every 2 months up there and sell it out. It just isn't the same here. Its harder work to sell them out. I think Peters probably needs to create a personality to capture peoples imagination again. The problem is if Peters (or any promoter) keeps running shows that don't sell then its inevitable that they will start having second thoughts. Now if that means to dropping to 5 or 6 shows for the time being then so be it. The blend and balance of these things needs to be got right. I agree about Andy Lee. He's overdue to go back to Limerick IMO. And I'm sure he'll sell it out too. Overall, what boxing in Dublin needs is a fighter with some personality that captures peoples imagination to start getting people who may be lapsed fans/borderline interested back to shows again.
Precisely. Prunty just has his rampant animalistic KO power (and shorts and six pack) without the subtlety of a rounded boxer :deal I don't know who the next big thing will be from down here. We could get Carlos down and train him. Not the boxing bit but to be a Dub. Repeat after me Carlos 'stoooorreeeee buuuddd' You'd like to think Patrick Hyland can come through but he's not lit the spark that will capture public imagination yet. Maybe if Peters wades in behind him he can.
