The fight was close compared to most of Floyds fights. I had Mayweather winning by about 3 to four rounds.
Both myself and Crackhead Senior saw Oscar taking more rounds, even though Floyd was clearly the better boxer. I just think he gave away too much in caution. But I don't think it was a crazy robbery or anything.
I only watched that snooze-fest once on the actual fight, but as I recall, it was sort of close-ish, but you had to really want to give Oscar some rounds. Prepared for a fix, I kept a separate score with that in mind, and I still had PBF winning. So it's not inconceivable that someone could have it close, but an unbiased judge should have still scored it for Floyd. To this day, I think they both agreed not to hurt each other in that fight! After the build up they gave that fight, it was the most disappointing event ever.
Floyd won. It's the castillo loss that people should think about. That's the only gift decision he has received.
I scored it 8 rounds to 4 for Floyd. Every time I have watched the fight over again I still get the same score. So I guess it depends on what you consider a "close fight." It was a competitive fight in my opinion, but Floyd won a clear-cut decision.
Oscar faded down the stretch becasue he was missing with his flurries, and getting hit with precisions shots even though they weren't super powerful.
^This. Strange cause I rarely if ever score a fight a draw. It was damn close IMO. Maybe I need to see it again though...
PhILLa, Bladerunner and LukeO ****ing *******s the question is if it was close or not the ****ing fight not if oscar was past his prime or a part time boxer or a gift in the castillo fight...you sound like ****ing 12 year old kids STFU *******s and comprehend the question if you cant just jump to another thread ... I had floyd winning close but clear ... 7-5 ...
This fight was boring and I remember vividly that like the only times we (party I was at) ever got excited were meaningless in retrospect. Oscar's jab, and a meaningless body flurry (which looked good in live speed, but slo-mo showed none landing, nor doing damage...) were all he had in the fight. The mere fact it was SD is bull****. Oscar lost, SD makes it look a LITTLE better on his record.
At the last 5 seconds of that fight Oscar hits Floyd with a huge flush left hook right on the chin and he was fine. Floyd won a clear decision and showed that he has a pretty good chin for when he actually does get hit.
