With the tutelage of Manny Steward, Wlad prepares for his opponents extremely well and doesn't stray from their gameplan. But, like Tyson used to say, "Every fighter has a gameplan until they get hit." The only fighter I've seen in recent memory to get Wlad out of his gameplan was Tony Thompson. He is a much avoided spoiler who would give most fighters in the division fits. It's a shame we don't see him fight more often. Because of Haye's height and reach, i don't see a brawl happening. My prediction would be a knockout in 8 rounds for Wlad Klitshcko.
I see that as well. Though Haye's handspeed and power could present a problem for Wlad. The first few rounds will tell us alot. If Haye chooses to stay on the outside and practically run away. Wlad will find him by the mid rounds. If Haye can connect early and get Wlad's respect, the fight may look a little like the Peter fight. I feel it could be Wlad's biggest test since Peter in 05.
i would have agreed with you before viewing the Chagaev fight last summer. Since then, I have come to the conclusion that Wlad has become an almost unbeatable fighter against an opponent who doesn't rival the Champ's height and reach. Haye is fast, but so was ibragimov and Chagaev. Those two opponents even had a southpaw advantage. I'm afraid to say for Haye fans, that even Haye himself realizes this. in my opinion, this is the real reason why he decided not to make the Kltschko fights a reality. I think Haye is a smart man.

Haye may have a big mouth but he is not stupid. He knew that it was a far better risk/reward ratio to fight Valuev and then work off the options to Sauerland fighting the WBA circus and pocketing $1-$2 million each fight rather than going straight to the Klits and take a huge risk. Now Haye can collect maybe a $5m total purse fighting all this C-level competition. He lives in low-tax Cyprus so he should be able to keep most of it out of the reach of the taxman. Then .. maybe (!).. he will have the balls to take the risk to fight the Klits because his family is financially secured then.
Really so in your opinion he stood and traded with Valuev, no He has fought one average heavyweight and he ran like a ***** Plain and simple. and you making more excusaes for him does not change the fact that he ran like a ***** from light punching Valuev. Valuev was hurt before by Barrett and Nobles. and just like Haye he wasnt even hurt enough to go down hardly a claim to greatness. He should of been man enough to try for the knockout like he said he would, But hey when has Haye ever been a man of his word right? He ran from the opening bell on, Shitt Valuev has poor power but i guess since Mock put his ass on ***** street he should be afraid of a light punching heavy, His ko record is only 3 & 0 with 2 ko's against poor competition at heavyweight.. hardly ground breaking ****, Hell Chagaev the guy who was the Legit WBA champ fought and beat Valuev lilke a man, Holyfield fought him like a man and deserved the decision, Ruiz fought him like a man and had two contreversial losses.
Haye doesn't have a chance, he's going to keep duck the Klitschkos. Hope that he fights Vitali and gets KOed....
I always hoped Haye would get Wlad 1st. But after watching Vitali's last fight. It makes no difference.
Haye wont get either because hes not man enough to honour his word. He was supposed to be taking on Wladimir and Vitali left and right and clear the division by late 2010, well.. all he's done is run a marathon race, almost get clobbered by a bum in Barrett and run his mouth.
Now he gets C-level competition like Valuev, Ruiz and Meehan first. And that's probably much better for Haye and his future career, purely from a risk/reward point of view.
i don't even see him fighting Meehan. Meehan is one of the more avoided fighters in the division. I am really intrigued by the Chagaev/Meehan fight if it ever materializes, though. If Haye can knockout Ruiz, i will have to give the man a lot of respect for doing something most heavyweights have been unable to do. Honestly, after the Valuev performance, Haye needs a knockout victory. Haye himself has admitted as much.
It was recently announced by the WBA that the purse bid for Chagaev-Meehan was canceled because "both parties were able to agree on terms". So I guess the fight should happen in spring/summer of this year, although site and date haven't been announced yet. For Haye. I think if he's smart he will just keep talking but keep boxing smartly. It is clear to anybody with half a brain that Haye is not boxing for the sport nor for his legacy, he is after the quick and easy money. And who can blame in, considering what a mess the economy is. If he plays it smart he outboxes Ruiz over 12 rounds and then wait for the Chagaev/Meehan winner. Chagaev (southpaw!) would be a very very tough obstacle for Haye IMO.
All three fighters are tough outings for most Heavyweights, and a victory over either fighter should be considered to be an impressive victory. I think most real fight fans will see it that way. If Haye can beat any combination of those fighters, his fans have a legitimate reason to get excited.
