Lewis overrated. If he had stuck around he would have gotten sparked out again like he did against McCall and Rahman.
He would've been a dominant figure, but the Klitschkos stylistically pose difficult tasks for him. Much harder than the doses of Briggs, Grants and Bothas.
like he was gonna butcher tyson when he tried to sue him into a 2nd fight instead of the vitali rematch. as soon as the WBC made Vitali the mandatory he retired that same week coincidence? i think not.
he was 37 or 38 when he retired. Had he hung around and gotten another loss, so what? That's not going to take away from his tremendous legacy. But he made the right decision.

Lewis was hated when he was active. He got very very little respect, especially from the US boxing scene. Few of you guys seem to remember it, but that's how it was. Once boxers retire we tend to remember only their more memorable fights and forget about some of their weaknesses. Lewis is definitely a Top 10 ATG HW in my book.
Funny you say that, I remember some rainbow press article calling Lewis "Princess Glass Jaw". Oh well, that was 15 or so years ago, before he avenged his McCall loss. IMO Lewis' chin was good enough to rule the division. He took a number of bombs from Tua and didn't wobble. Also took Vitali's punches well.
Imagine what he'd do to Samuel The Quitter Peters. Boy oh boy, he could trump in the ring now at 275-280lbs and wreck Peter in a couple rounds.
