So Khoder just rocks up and says 'Hey, Anthonys available in April!' Yeah, I'm amazed that didn't work.

HBO wasn't the reason. "The Pioneers" pathetic international profile may have had something to do with it. Just putting it out there.
I for one am relieved to hear that Flash feels Mundine shouldn't be concentrating on local fighters, has the courage to say so, and actually believes Mundine will step-up. 'Will Mundine ever step up' has been the most commonly heard expression in Australian boxing for years, and it's high time all the hot air actually amounted to something. Gotta say though, it's one thing to say you're 'made yourself available for a month' and another entirely to hotly pursue a match-up until the deal's done.
Wow, Mundine says he's been chasing Pavlik so it must be true. Just like he chased Calzaghe and then ducked him by saying Warren's offer was pathetic. Just like he chased Kessler for a rematch for 2 years and then fled down to MW when Kessler became his mandatory. Funny how the guys Mundine says he's chasing apparently all duck him, yet when one of them falls into his lap (Kessler) he runs away to a lower weight division. Then there's the endless excuses why he doesn't get the big fights - purse split not good enough, PayTV companies won't see eye to eye, yadda yadda yadda, but the best one of all, the one that ashley continually uses without even batting an eyelid, totally unashamedly, is that there was no point in Mundine fighting Kessler again because he was always going to lose to him. That there is the essense of the very opposite of intestinal fortitude. Not wanting to rematch a guy who beat you because you don't think you can beat him. What's he in the sport for? Yep, everything Mundine says must be true.
Agree mate...choc cant compete against Martinez in profile on the world stage :deal My main point is Choc has been chasing Pavlik for 1 year...you cant tell me Espino has more profile that choc :yep To add to this choc had the IBO 160 strap and while its not the big 4 it still has international respect. Also I think Pavlik should have fought choc because he would have been a much better warm up fight for the likes of PW and Martinez....Espino fights nothing like them.
Don't strongly disagree with what you've written but... Why the hell didn't he meet the mandatory with Geale??? ...the interest was there. ...the title was there. ...the contest was there. ...there was a re-match clause in the original contract. ...the IBO called the mandatory, set the date, and.... ...he went on a starvation diet, the belt went in the bin and for what bloody gain mate?? Do you think Mundine just plain decided the IBO belt was worthless??
No I dont think so at all. I do think Khoder play hard and thought he could push the IBO round....he was wrong :deal I do know the comment from team Mundine was for Dan to go win another title (vacant IBO or another) before we go round again.
I know it's a business. Boxing ceased being a sport decades ago... ...but 'bring me a title or I won't fight you' is a bit bloody rich! Particularly when Geale bought a title to the table for their first meeting, and the close PTS decision resulted in a mandatory ruling from the organisation! What did Mundine really bring to the table for first bout with Geale? ...other than the promise that of a lot of people hoping to see Mundine lose, would actually be prepared to pay for the privilege??
