I thought Wallace had made an interesting point in his assessment of the fight, that Pacquaio tends to reset when hit with a stiff jab.

Clottey has the ability to counterpunch effectively (he was doing in bunches against Margarito) and he can push a strong jab as well . If he can do it for 12 rounds, and does not engage or tempt himself to a brawl with Pacquaio, he has a great chance to get an upset.

Hatton wasn't no ****in Hitman. He was a "get hit" man...

He brought shame to that nickname. Tommy Hearns should whip his ass for that ****.

He needs to fight EXACTLY how he always fights if he wants to have any chance. Clottey is a great fighter because he fights in his best possible style, if you force him to switch styles....he won't be great at fighting that way. Why people don't get this I have no idea. Very few fighters (floyd is one) can switch styles and still be great at each.

He's the biggest guy Pac will have face (not drained Oscar) and he has good defense and good timing. Cotto and Hatton made the mistake of trying to press Pac and it failed. He needs to hold back, let Pac come at him and time him coming in. If he can start chipping and winning a few rounds in the 1st half of the fight he could do it.

Josh has got to work behind the jab and utilize his size, power and strength to force PAC to work. The jab has got to be working to the body and head. He's gotta be the one controlling the range but work behind his strong "D" Shell. If he can force Manny to the ropes and he can weather PAC's wrath while connecting with some well placed counters on the inside, he may be able to come on strong late and win a Decision or get a KO.

The problem is I think Manny will outwork him even if Josh fights a perfect fight. Josh is big and powerful enough to get Manny out of there but he'll have to be on him, working the body when he's in position on the inside. Against the ropes he'll leave Manny little space to avoid a Josh Upper Cut taht will be vital in the later rounds.

So for Josh to win....gotta have the jab to the body and head....push the pace, control the range......work the body and throw the uppercut when PAC is on the ropes.

With that said I think Manny will probably win a UD. I'd be surprised if Roach was right on this one given the fact that Josh is so durable with great defense.

If Manny can keep up and in and out strategy and avoid the ropes this is gonna be a long frustrating night for Clottey. The more I think about it the more I'm thinking Pacs foot speed is the most important factor in this fight. Which was probably fairly obvious to you and others

Roach has said that he wants to attack Clottey's body (no homo)...

In order to do that, pac will have to employ a more flat-footed, power-punching strategy, because body jabs will have no effect on Clottey. (at least not the desired affect) This will keep him in the pocket a little longer than he probably needs to be. And it will make it easier for Clottey to time him coming in.
