Why wouldn't Pac carry up power and speed?

What's this noob theory about not being able to carry up speed and power?

It's not like Pacman's bulked up his upper body. Roach/Ariza are well known for aiming to work on the legs instead of bulking the upper body (which is what Khan was doing before he joined up with Roach).

How on earth does having bigger calves mean you can't punch as fast and as as hard as before?

Carrying up your power is an oxymoron. It doesn't mean literally having less power, it means being able to affect bigger men to a lesser extent than the smaller ones you were previously facing. Men who carry up their power through the divisions are rare. So are men who carry up their speed. So are men who can carry both consistantly throughout a fight.

I've got to say though, those are training clips. They may represent different stages of training, sharpness, or sessions with two different goals. I don't see a drop off in speed based upon fight footage.

The problem is not carry-up power. The problem is that the guys you are fighting are bigger and they can take more punishment. Good examples Tito Trinidad, a killer in 147 lbs, but at higher weights he needs to work much more to get the ko. Who can take the savage left hooks in the first round as Vargas does and continue fighting for 12 close rounds with Tito at 147lbs? nobody. Wilfredo Gomez another vivid example at 122lbs he never lost and has 17 titular defenses and he won all by ko. But at higher weight he dont have the same power. In reality he punch harder at the higher weight divisions, but the opponents were bigger and can take his punches better. Also bear in mind that Paquiao has not fought anyone in a fair fight at welter division. Dela hoya dehydrated, Cotto was at 145 lbs a week before the fight and Clottey was advise of the fight in late january. He has no time to work and lower his weight properly, but everybody is running in the pac department and nobody wants to said the truth. Also is using steroids that is clear and simple.

Pac has carried up some of his power but he's not as powerful as he used to be, its his accuracy and shot selection that has improved. Also fighters only lose speed moving up in weight if they do it poorly, or else they generally get faster because everyone around them is slower. Pac's hands may have gotten slower but since his opponents are bigger he still has the same speed advantage. Also Pac may have gotten stronger but because his opponents are bigger his power is lessened.

Simply put; it rarely happens. That doesn't mean it's impossible and it's far from a damning case of PEDS. However, it just rarely happens even from one weight class to the next. There have been cases of guys who would absolute destroy people at a certain weight class but absolutely could not carry the power up to the next weight class. Like I said, it's far from damning but carrying his power up this far is incredibly impressive and incredibly rare.
