Pacquiao's so called "popularity" is just due to him coming along at the right time.

Pacquiao had nothing to do with the fact Money decided to take a leave of absence from the sport he's graced for so many years. Besides Money, boxing was in dire need of a new boxing hero and superstar that people could relate to. Well, here comes along this so called "average joe". The heavyweight division was in the shitter and the game could not produce a boxer who could carry on the mantle left behind by the likes of Money, Tyson, Holyfield, Mosley, Wright and Hopkins. Guy's who either took a break or are nearing the end of their careers. We surely didn't hear jack **** about Pacquiao from the start to the middle parts of the 2000s, except for his fights with shopworn Barrera and Morales who happened to be the most popular Mexican duo fighting in the U.S. So he fights these guys after they've beaten the prime out of eachother? Now ask yourself this, had he not fought those two do you honestly think he would have become as popular? Hell to the no, I don't think so. Pacquiao even fought on an undercard of Money May in which he squeaked out an ugly draw with an average Dominican journeyman. He was even on the undercard of a steroid using shopworn Fernandoe Vargas. Since then he's continued to take on guys that are either shopworn or past it. The one guy who was a legitimate threat and in the opinion of most boxing people felt beat him was beaten to a pulp over 12 rounds by Money.

The fact is that Top Rank has orchastrated his career, his wife ain't sexy and now it's painfully obvious that he's on something after backing out of the Money fight. For those banking on Pacquiao to beat Money would be like taking betting tips from Teddy Atlas. It's not wise nor is it happening.

Now is it clear? Don't you see? Pacquiao just so happened to come around at the right time and hails from a country that has nothing else to idolize or turn to. Meanwhile, Money was born from a rich boxing predigree and was destined to be a star right out of the gates.

Wow, that really makes me like PBF more, who wouldn't like someone destined to be a star as opposed to someone who overcame adversity? Pacquiao's popularity is only because of him coming along at this time! Forget those emphatic performances he's had over the last couple of years!

Well i like Pacquiao because he's exciting, fights and trades with anyone put in front of him, and seems to be a nice person, and almost never badmouths an opponent.

Also he is to me one of the most mythical figures in boxing since Roberto Duran, hes not just your everyday skilled American boxer, or gritty British boxer, or mexican slugger. He is someone people want to know more about, and that in my opinion has added to his star value.

Now please, give Pacquiao a rest and find some new material, your boring.

What's scary though is that you put a lot of effort into it. I put almost no effort in my James Toney ducking Zuri Lawrence thread.

Popularity can also be measured by the level of jealousy one gets from the likes of you.

You are more obsessed with Manny Paquiao than any other poster on this forum. How many Pac threads have you started?

Admit it Jacory. You don't hate Manny Pacquiao. You hate yourself because deep inside, you love Manny Pacquiao.

You live for Manny Pacquiao. And as everyone can see on this forum, Manny Pacquiao lives inside of you.

That is very true, and something I haven't thought about. He's quite enigma thats for sure.

He also has a "Bruce Lee" type of appeal, which I think adds to his mystique and popularity.
