Yeah Manassa has always been in and out but Robbi? Anyway yeah it's brilliant, you pick them so much better than the action shot types. I'm onto you.

true, true. by accounts driscoll won that fight but i put attell ahead based on longevity at the top and wins over other greats nelson and kilbane (his win over dixon was well past dixon's prime). there's certainly a case to be made for driscoll (and others) but personally from what i've read attell can get the spot

I'm surprised that Greb hasn't been picked more. Is it because his work is split between MW, LHW and HW, or is it because there is no film of him?

Bokaj, I blieve Harry Greb's legacy is so astounding that, that Greb is like an elephant, in the room...He is so large rhat some people, do not see him....Methinks...

I think this is an excellent list. I must say, though, I cant see Dempsey over Ali.

And Stanley Ketchel, I am sorry but he is not in the same league as Bob Fitzsimmons. I also think that Jack McAuliffe probably deserves a spot in ahead of Joe Gans.

Other than that, i think i would probably agree with the list.

good point. also, greb is one of those guys that is now being appreciated pound for pound but at middleweight my generation at least had 3 names pounded in their heads: hagler, monzon, robinson. those were the 3 middleweights that were at the top and greb was this shadowy figure of the past who may or may not have been that great. only now is there a push to accept evidence that he was one of the best ever, based on reports, newspaper articles and his record.

Boilermaker,,,Ali had his problems with lighter and faster opponents as Doug Jones, Henry Cooper, who came within a whisper of ko'ing Ali, the first fight...I am thinking of the young tigerish Dempsey,of Willard and before...Not the Jack Dempsey of Tunney, slow and past his prime, after a THREE year layoff...I am thinking of the Dempsey ,who Sam Langford claimed, "was the greatest FIGHTER I EVER SAW". I am thinking of the Manassa Mauler, who was in 1950 , declared "THE GREATEST FIGHTER OF ALL TIMES,"by a vast majority of boxing writers who saw all the greats from Sullivan to 1950...Who are we to be so vain that we today somehow,Know more of young DEmpsey's prowess, sixty years later?..In my minds eye I see a young Dempsey, lithe and pwerful. bobbing and weaving under Ali's jab, and catching Ali with vicious left hooks, ala , Frazier...But Dempsey at his peak hit much faster than Frazier, and had a great right hand also...Dempsey in very old Ring Mags I have ,was described at his young prime as fast as a welterweight. very strong ,with a unique will to destroy...This is the Jack Dempsey, T see not the old Jack Dempsey with the same name...My opinion...B.B.

You reminded me, I forgot Greb, kick Robinson out of Middleweight.

    But great minds, eh?

The same as mine, where is my praise?

Really? I have read reports and it seems to have been a top notch tactical affair by both men, and both men gave a good showing. Most people felt Driscoll won and it was close but clear but Attel was never outclassed.

    Same here

What do you mean it echoes my avater? You mean the action shot?

Reports I have read say that Driscoll was an overwhelming winner, Attell had his work cut out with Owen Moran ,let alone Driscoll.
