Perhaps I was being too... harsh on Povetkin, but really, if one of the Klitschkos were to fall it would be Wladimir as Vitali's retiring early enough so that age won't have a too big effect.

Wladimir still has that chinny bit, but Povetkin... i don't know, he's a solid very good fighter but... not the type to expose Wlad. Still, Povetkin has a legitimate claim at a title because he's already beat enough opposition to get noticed. I just can't see him winning the title against the Klitschkos. He'd do much better against Haye but Haye's holding the WBC title, which means one fight per year, including mandatories. If that fight comes, it will be a showdown against a Klitschko.

Hmmm yea well thats true, but i think he could do better than at least Arreola, Peter, and Thompson.

Out of all the opponents that they have been getting beat these past few years id say Chagaev did the best "try"... Hes a great fighter but hes just not Klit caliber. But if its heavys his size like maybe Povetkin, Adamek, Boytsov id think he would do real welll...

id like to see a HW tourny with all the smaller heavys with Povetkin, Adamek, Boytsov, Banks, and Chagaev. Too bad Ibragimov is gone. This division has potention it just gets thrown in the ring vs. the Klits so early. I mean they even challenged Adamek when he was still a Cruiserweight.. lol....

What i hate mostly about this division is that everytime a fighter looks good, the fighter than immediately goes and sign a Klit offer that was given to them. The only one that gotten off "good" with these offers are Kevin Johnson of course, LOL. He came there to get "dat damn payday" and just **** it ima try not to get knocked out in the process mentality LOL.

Povetkin, Boytsov and Adamek are doing good just improving and comming at the right time and maybe than after those few warm ups to the Klits, than go. I thought it was kinda early for Chagaev cause he has been training not so often and dealing with sickness. I think its too soon for Chambers too, but who else is there really.

Past 2 year after eliminator IBF against Chambers. Now is time for Wlad-Povetkin fight, after Peter. I'm sure that Wlad will win against Chambers, I bet late tko or stoppage by trainer.

Where does this shitty commentator see the "immense punching power" of Povetkin ? He hits Mora with everything but the kitchen sink, and Mora is still there in round 4 fighting back, unfazed. Povetkin has no chance whatsoever to KO either Klitschko, and he is too open for even the shitty right hands from Mora to not get hit a lot by them.

Povetkin is too slow to hang with the K brothers (not that I'm a fan of them, though). No way Mora should have lasted 4 1/2 rounds. So going back to the OP's title, no, Povetkin does NOT look like a beast. That's his problem, he doesn't have the killer instinct to play in the heavyweights division elite level.

Unfazed, except for the 3 knockdowns?

Povetkin has never been a 1 punch KO artists but i do think he's always had decent pop and recently it seems like he is hitting harder.

I imagine he was trying to get some work in, you can tell he's still figuring out the new style. Overall i thought he looked pretty good.

Povetkin has never faced a real puncher in his whole career. His management team has kept him away from the heavy hitters of the division for a reason. Rumors of him melting in sparring sessions in preperation for the Wlad fight, made him postpone his meeting with Klitschko for good reason.

Look at everyone he has fought, they all have one thing in common. No power! Bryd, Brock, Donald, Nolan, Sykes, Estrada. They all had under a 50% KO ratio. Their is a pattern there. The refusal to fight Peter or Wlad when he was offered the fights. I feel proves enough to support my claim that his chin is probably weak, and is bound to be exposed soon.

Let me get this straight: Povetkin is standing toe-to-toe with a completely outmatched nobody called Mora, hits him with 12 punches straight to the chin within 25 seconds and this guy is still standing. Either Mora has a rock solid chin (he doesn't) or Povetkin has zero punching power.

There is no way in hell Povetkin will KO neither glass chinned Wlad nor granite chinned Vitali. And obviously he won't win on points neither. Povetkin - Wlad will be a another terrible mismatch. Povetkin must hope Chambers can pull off the impossible and win an upset and get rid of Wlad for him.

You are right, Povetkin lacks punching power badly. He throws awesome pinpoint combinations though.
