Exactly. Mancini was a glorified clubfighter. I lived through the era and remember exactly how limited he was. And exciting, Gatti-type fighter, but not particularly talented.
Great match up. I think Hatton would take him by late stoppage. He'd run him down and bull him around. Plus, Hatton is/was the heavier fighter.
You just insulted Mancini by comparing him to Gatti. Ray woulda never lost to C fighters like Manfredy, and Ivan Robinson.
I'm going with Mancini. Tough close fight but I'm taking who I feel is the better puncher. I think Mancini edges Hatton in punching and in stamina/workrate. Can Hatton out-box him in a Urango type fashion. Mancini isn't that immobile or cumbersome. All I know is Ricky would be in the fight of his life... and if were a 15 round fight than I would favor Mancini. In 12 rounds I'll take Hatton by a 7-5/8-4 vedict.
Bobby Chacon, Art Frias, Ernesto Espana, and Moralas were all top notch fighters. He beat Ramierez at age 18 or 19. I can't see Hatton doing that at any time. Rematch with Bramble was tough, and good performance by mancini. Bramble tested postitive fro drugs after fight, before last rounds they gave Bramble something to drink which made him come out fresh again. Duva swore positve result on drug test was due to vitamins. Mancini was tremendous fighter, I am surprised by lask of respect for his ability.
Yes he was....but he was much better than Hatton.......you think Hatton would have lasted past 2-3 with Alexis?....he can't even last against a southpaw clown like Pacquiao. Mancini would beat the **** out of Hatton, and stop him....Hatton doesn't have near the chin Mancini did.
The version of Ray Mancinni that gave Arguello hell for 11-12 rounds would eat Hatton, and his whole family.
Some funny responses here...from people, no matter what they are saying, obviously have seen **** all of Mancini...and if they have well, thats even worse. Ray showed more skill and versatility then Hatton ever has shown me. Better jab and actually moves his head. Mancini had some more then adequate text book skills, its just he was usually in with a level of fighter that forced him bring out his slugger/warrior side. Im actually feeling Hatton in this one but Mancini a glorified clubfighter? Get the **** out.
I have to agree with the last poster, but for a very different reason. HILARIOUS responses in this thread. :rofl
AT JW im leaning towards a prime Hatton who i think is underrated. Mancini was also pretty damn good, i think he lost a little after Arguello stopped him. PFP pretty close, but id have to take Hatton in this one.
Bobby Chacon was past it and out sized in this fight but still managed to put up a good fight. Also this fight was stopped to fast especially considering Chacons recuperative powers. Chacon also didnt come into this fight in the best condition. He caught Chacon at the right time.
