The key difference between Pavlik compared to Martinez and Williams is fluidity. Sure, it might get overlooked when it comes to pre-fight predictions but it's key. Pavlik is horribly immobile and moves around the ring with concrete legs, plodding everywhere. Williams and Martinez both have faster feet and better footwork. Their overall style is much more fluid.

Honestly, Pavlik is the stiffest champion I've seen outside of the heavyweight division and he's still less fluid than giants like Wlad. Just a very, very poor mover, and movement will always be his Achilles heel.

Cheezo seriously are you guy's for real? Some serious cocksuckers on here. Pavlik is just a puncher with a good/great chin nothing more.

And Pavlik's been down twice. Little difference. And Pavlik has only been hurt once, Williams on several occasions.

Jermain Taylor twice and Bernard Hopkins once up in weight is clearly better than Margarito and Martinez. Include Winky's corpse if you want; it won't help your case. Taylor and Hopkins were both highly-ranked P4P fighters when KP fought them - in the top five, in fact. None of Williams' opponents have ever even been close to the top 10. Pavlik has fought the better opponents and it's not close.

2>1. You said Williams has been down more. You are wrong. It's OK to admit it.

And which "several occassions" has Williams been hurt?

Not Margo, Not Quintana, only against Sergio. Who else really hurt him?

I remember Martinez in 03 when he was fighting R Williams twice and A Stone, he seems a good boxer but I seem to remember R Williams put him down and hurt him in there first fight before being outboxed. Pavlik although a complete different fighter to R Williams, is alot bigger and definately a more solid hitter. I think Pavlik will win by KO, I dont think Martinez is big enough at MW but at LMW Martinez could even at 35 so something considering his performance against P Williams

I said that Williams gets KD'd more, i.e. he has a greater tendency to get knocked down - as evidenced by his lack of defence and being hurt/put down by nothing punchers.

It depends on your standards, of course. Margo certainly buzzed him, as did Mitchell, and arguably Quintana and Winky. Pavlik was definitely hurt by Taylor, slightly by Hopkins: that's it. So yes, Williams has been hurt i) more and ii) by lesser fighters.

Add Cintron to the list if the fight actually gets signed.

The press conference pictures are interesting. Pavlik looks like a LHW standing with Martinez.

In addition Martinez is starting to talk like a damn fool. He basically said he is going to beat Pavlik up and knock him out in 8-10 rounds. If I were a Martinez supporter, that attitude would make me very uncomfortable. Martinez may be just hyping the fight, but if he is sincere, then he is seriously under estimating KP, and will get his ass handed to him in significantly less than 8 rounds. Small middleweights who have questionable defense and a low KO ratio simply cannot get away with being that aggressive against Pavlik.

I do believe by round 4 Pavlik will wish he was in the ring with anyone else. Reason. He will have knocked Martinez out by round 3. He will be warmed up by then and think " jeez, why cant i fight Williams now since I have nothing to do"

In my original post I spoke about Martinez telegraphing his straight left, but I noticed something else today. Martinez routinely throws a straight left to the body from to far out, over commits, and falls in badly. When he does that he is a sitting duck for a left uppercut -- right cross. If he gets hit flush with that particular combination, he won't stay on his feet.

According to the collective conventional ESB wisdom Kelly doesn't throw uppercuts and wouldn't know a right cross from the old rugged cross.

Other than that, what fights are you watching that would translate into tendencies that he would bring to the Pavlik fight? The Pdub fight is pretty useless. Kelly isn't going to do the same stupid **** Paul did. Cintron is on a disk my computer won't let me read at the moment. Long story......
