He stepped up to the plate and fought with so much heart. Just because you may have lost some money on him dont start crying Clottey did better than i thought he could do and i will watch him fight again Well done Clottey... i hope Ghana is proud.. they should be P.S. Don't know why people are complaining about Clottey taking there money.... i would rather have seen that then something like Mayweather v Baldomir (not bashing mayweather... actually like the guy) but give this guy a break
Virtually nobody gave Joshua Clottey a chance at victory, and a large proportion of people here were claiming he would not make the distance. I think he landed with more clean shots on Manny Pacquiao then Oscar De La Hoya, Ricky Hatton, and Miguel Cotto managed too. Those inside left uppercuts were getting through flush and particuarly early on, the jab and right hand was working. I gave him round 3 because I think he inflicted the more damage, and looking at Manny's face after 12, he'd be inclined to agree with me. Clottey performed well, and Manny was finally made to work hard for a win again.
Clottey fought like Clottey, but at some point he should have put more on the line. Its not his style though
Here is the problem though. Everybody respects Clottey. He is a tough guy. But he didn't come into this fight to win, it is as simple as that. When you are fighting for millions of dollars you should at least try to go out and win. That is what seperates the greats from the goods. Remember this is boxing, a very brutal sport, but it also a sport where you have to lay it on the line to win. Clottey while very tough is not a great fighter.
I can't believe you say he didn't come to win.. thats the way he always fights for crying out loud... so do you think he never comes to win. He has a genuine belief in his style... its what got him this far (i think he beat Cotto and the DQ against Baldomir was crazy... therefore i only had him losing one fight going into this). But i think any sportsman will tell you that as soon as you get out of your OWN rhythm your fu**ed... he probably thought that he could still beat Manny going into the 9th round. But he thoroughly deserved the chance to take on Pacquiao.. he was the highest ranked contender that was available... so that pay day is collateral. And don't talk about Paul Williams please... lost alot of respect for this guy if that stupid facebook stuff is true (although i dont think he would be this classless)... But anyway, the guy hasn't fought at 147 for a while now so can't genuinely be considered... and also he got outboxed easily by Quintana ... and i thought he lost to Martinez
Yeah... it really angers me... i like to keep in touch with boxing news etc which is why i am on here but i cant stand some of these morons bad mouthing everyone
I thought Clottey would win & i'am a pac fan, but i'am not blind as Clottey who like the rest of Pac's victims just could'nt/can't find an answer to Pac. I'am just amazed at pac's perfomance last night, ****in incredible!! for a little feller!! But any slagging down of Clottey is only to be expected from the Void joyboys who all know that there hero will get wiped out once that gutless ******* man's up & gets into the ring.
I knew what sort of a fight this would be, thats why I didn't stay up for it, so nothing against either from me as I like both of em, but they both fought the way the way usually do, stylewise I never thought it would be a good fight.
most likely being his last chance at doing anything in the sport, he didn't give it that extra 10% you don't often get many chances as a top level boxer, and he has gotten more than most...he squandered his last chance behind a tight high guard i would compare him to collazo, as far as getting a decent amount of chances, but coming up short...but collazo actually gave it his all, and put it all on the line
They can put Usein Bolt in the ring he is going to run for 12 round from Pac without taking a punch. Boxing is about people trying their best to win and eventuelly they can finish in the hospital. It's bad for them (but they are well paid to do it) but it's good for the fans. Last night fight was a robbery to all the people that bought the PPV
